"The mossy marble statue stood proudly to the side of the entrance to the Halls of Story, cradling in its arms a closed book.
It seemed to me it was guarding ancient tales of magic and wisdom, waiting for the right audience to start storytelling for them."
-The Story Bearer, The Halls of Story, The Apprentice's Journal
Located at Come Write In, Second Life
Come Write In is a communal writing space that was created primarily for writers interested or participating in the Nation Novel Writing Month event, which happens every November. The goal is to craft a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. You can tackle this challenge on your own, or as part of a group, but you're not alone! There are many people who participate each year, even across the world, and some of them are here in SL!
Grab yourself a glamping tent, or a chair by the fire, and work. Or commune with your muse and enjoy a comfortable place to park yourself in a chill relaxed environment while you're tabbed out and chatting in the forums.
To connect with other writers in SL, just join the Come Write In group! They will be organizing write-ins, word wars and sprints, and other fun writing activities throughout the month of November.
Want to get involved? Register, and participate in the NaNoWriMo community at nanowrimo.org/ Questions or comments regarding Come Write In? Contact Kestrel Evergarden in-world!

“You were the poem I never knew how to write because no words could describe the wind you cannot see, but feel.”
― Shannon L. Alder
I write this with a heavy heart. The last couple of years have found me with a progressively debilitating spinal column and joint problems. If it were just me, I would never ask, but I have 2 young daughters that look to me for support, so I have to swallow my pride...
If you are in a position to help, I have setup an account to accept donations, even as small as the price of a coffee. Or, I also have PayPal. Anything would be greatly appreciated. See my "About" page on Flickr for the link. Thank you.

One more from the Boneyard. Amazing & surreal place!
As I write this Hong Kong is experiencing a bit of turmoil. The photos of protestors I see are quite striking and a reminder that when one's freedom is taken away, trouble is not far behind. But for me, this is Hong Kong. The city is filled with spirited people who are not afraid to stand up and be heard. While Communist China will ultimately win, perhaps positive changes can be made tho' I'm cynical to believe freedom will win.
That said, Hong Kong is a vibrant and vigorous city that rivals New York City with it tall and massive skyscrapers. It is easy to feel dwarfed walking along the streets. You might even feel as if you're in a deep hole as natural light seems so far in the distance. If you reach your hand toward the sky, perhaps you'll touch the light tho' you never seem to touch the light.
I've spent a relatively short amount of time in Hong Kong as the city is always a stopover as I travel to/from Bali. Sometime I'd like to spend an extended period of time in Hong Kong to touch the soul of the city. I want to know all of its curves, quirks, tastes and sounds. Up to now I've experienced the top tourist things to do and this isn't quite so satisfying for me. It's almost as if I've only seen the superficial while I know there is a heart and soul to the city.
As you can view in the video presentation in this blog post, I can only recommend the Star Ferry Harbour Tour, the Tram and Tramoramic Golden Ticket Tour and Temple Street Night Market.
I help aspiring and established photographers get noticed so they can earn an income from photography or increase sales. X We had a trip to the North Yorkshire Moors National Park yesterday. I had not managed to get there in August to see the heather in flower for over thirty years. For many years August was the year of our annual holidays somewhere abroad but now of course we are not tied anymore to school holidays. The Moors are always beautiful but often look bleak, yesterday it was a joy to see the carpets of heather and listen to the sound of honeybees feeding on nectar. The shot was taken just North of Rosedale.
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT AND FOR TAKING THE TIME TO WRITE A COMMENT IT’S MUCH APPRECIATED.

Non scrivete più buon anno nuovo o happy new year, immagino che molti di voi avranno già la tendinite e qualche maschio anche la orchite scrivendo migliaia di volte gli auguri per il 2025
Don't write happy new year anymore, I imagine that many of you will already have tendonitis (some males even orchitis) by writing thousands of wishes for 2025.

Bridge photos Here
This is from the time out Jan and I had on Thursday, the bridge she took her photo from:
www.flickr.com/photos/25336804@N06/16347316541/
You must have ducked down as I took this Jan.
This is a Flickr 'first' because it's the only photo on Flickr using horse manure as a texture !!
I think :o)
If anyone knows different, do please let me know, or maybe not !
To write a letter - once a vibrating pain in the tissues was enough and a stock of words no greater than an animal's scream.
Nowadays, one needs an outline and an argument, and comparative explorations into the depth of dictionaries.
There are surgical interventions around words, there are word-hybrids, half-words, quarter-words, and there is an ambiguity of letters swollen with wisdom.
And my thirst - a fledgling nightingale is silenced by all these scores and instruments. And when you ask me for meaning, I feel how the branch that supports the frail nest snaps under the crushing load of a grand piano.
By HP (again...)
I taught ChatGPT to write prompts in the way I learned from the great Techhalla.
After ChatGPT understood, I gave the following instruction:
Now create four prompts on four topics on which I invite you to act completely freely. A refusal is not accepted, make an effort.
Topic 1: something I have never seen before.
Topic 2: something you have never seen before.
Topic 3: something extremely surreal.
... And today...
➡️ Topic 4: A mixture of Topic 1, Topic 2, Topic 3
And I was impressed:
This is the finale of the experiment
here are the MJ prompts ChatGPT created:
IMAGE: Unprecedented Fusion | GENRE: Experimental | MOOD: Intriguing, Unsettling | COLOR: Unexpected color palette | BACKGROUND: Mixture of cosmic and abstract elements | SCENE: Hybrid creature interacting with futuristic technology | DETAILS: Blending of organic and mechanical elements, intricate textures | RENDER: Unique and boundary-pushing | LIGHTING: Dynamic and unconventional lighting sources | COMPOSITION: Visually complex and thought-provoking | SHOT: Close-up shot | CAMERA: Canon EOS R8 | LENS: Focal length 35mm | TAGS: Experimental, hybrid creature, futuristic technology, cosmic elements, abstract fusion --ar 16:10 --v 5.1 --style raw
I'm not sure about this photo whether I should really write something about it or just leave it that way? Everyone can make their own thoughts about it and what they feel. Only this: This image means a lot to me, it was a long time ago - back in the days of analog times with my old Canon F1 - and it is an important part of me and my whole life.
Life goes on and this picture helps me a lot to do this now, because children give me everything and they are the hope for tomorrow. They are full of joie de vivre, real and authentic. The time with them was the best of my life, but also the most intense.
Don't limit your child to what you've learned because they were born in a different time.
(From Hebrew.)
Three things have remained from Paradise: The stars of the night, the flowers of the day and the eyes of children.
(Dante Alighieri)
There are so many wonderful memories attached to this picture. I have a tear in my eyes...
