As much as I can't be bothered with the world cup fever that has taken over the locals I couldn't resist taking a shot of this house. Oh, and not a vuvuzela within earshot at the time of taking the pic.
Thank you to the vast majority of fans last night for your excellent behaviour while watching the England game.
Although the score didn’t go our way, fans by-and-large were brilliant and watched the #WorldCup semi-final between England and Croatia in good spirits.
Nine arrests were made in total in Manchester City Centre including public order offences and being drunk and disorderly, but thankfully no serious incidents took place.
We would also like to thank all the officers who worked hard to keep everyone safe last night, with many having to give up their plans of watching the game with friends and family.
Yesterday was a testament to fans – you came together, helped look after each other and dealt with the result graciously.

Det krävs ordentligt med förberedelser inför en alpin World Cup. Dagarna innan tävling inspekteras underlaget i backen och då gäller det att ha koll på väderleksprognosen så förberedelserna blir korrekta. Hårt (läs: isigt) underlag i backen är ett måste. Tävlingsåkarna vill ha hårda och jämna förhållanden. Underlaget är att likna vid en skridskois. Att försöka gå ut i backen med vanlig kängor är inte att tänka på. Det slutar i regel med att man hamnar längst ned i backen. Det är knappt att man klarar av att hålla sig kvar med pjäxor på fötterna. Funktionärer, fotografer och andra i backen har knivskarpa stegjärn på fötterna för att inte åka på ändan.
För att få till ett ishårt underlag måste snötäcket mättas med vatten. Det kallas att "balka". Med hjälp av högtryck skjuter man helt enkelt vatten en bit ned i snön så vattnet tillsammans med snön ska frysa och bilda en stenhård kaka. Det gäller att pressa vattnet under översta snöytan annars blir det bara en ytlig isskorpa som går sönder efter de första åkarna i banan. Det här är ett krävande jobb som görs för hand. Två personer går steg för steg och flyttar "balken" som har fler vattenmunstycken längs ett långt rör.
