The cathedral of Pisa belongs to the complex which consists of the cathedral, the leaning tower (campanile), the baptistery and the churchyard (Camposanto monumentale). The cathedral was inaugurated 1118 by the pope Gelasius II. The poet D`Annunzio called the site where it is located "Piazza dei Miracoli" (place of miracles). It is called by this name until today. The construction took 200 years, despite this long time, the facade of the buildings remained uniformly made of Carrara marble. Today the whole complex is an UNESCO site of world heritage.

Rising proudly in the heart of Old Havana, the Bacardi Building is a jewel of Art Deco elegance and one of Cuba’s most iconic landmarks. Completed in 1930 as the headquarters of the Bacardi Rum Company, its bold geometric lines, rich marble and granite interiors, and colorful terra-cotta façade made it a symbol of modern ambition in the Caribbean. Crowned by the famous bronze bat—the company’s emblem—it once stood as the tallest building in Havana and remains a striking reminder of the city’s golden age of architecture.
Today, the Bacardi Building is celebrated as one of the finest examples of Art Deco in Latin America, a fusion of Cuban spirit and international style that continues to captivate travelers, photographers, and lovers of design.
Le Zitelle (officially Santa Maria della Presentazione) is a church in Venice, Italy. It is part of a former complex that gave shelter to young maidens ("zitelle" in Italian) who had no dowry, and is in the easternmost part of the Giudecca island.
Generally attributed to Andrea Palladio, the original design dates to 1579–80 and the construction to 1586.
This huge structure is a wine fermenting vat. I am told it holds so much wine that if you drank a case a week, it would take 500 years to empty it. It’s harvest time where I live in Northern California.

Gehry Bilbao Guggenheim Architecture
The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao is a museum of modern and contemporary art, designed by Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry, built by Ferrovial,[3] and located in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain. It is built alongside the Nervion River, which runs through the city of Bilbao to the Atlantic Coast. The Guggenheim is one of several museums belonging to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. The museum features permanent and visiting exhibits of works by Spanish and international artists.
One of the most admired works of contemporary architecture, the building has been hailed as a "signal moment in the architectural culture", because it represents "one of those rare moments when critics, academics, and the general public were all completely united about something.
The museum was the building most frequently named as one of the most important works completed since 1980 in the 2010 World Architecture Survey among architecture experts.

I committed to bringing trophies for the World Architecture theme. I thought it would be fun to make a "triumphal arch", which seems to incorporate the theme of architecture along with triumphing. I think they look better in person. I was also severely limited in color and piece count and all the rest. Oh well.
For added extra fun, I'm going to give a presentation on cheese slope mosaics Sunday morning.
Then I'm going to write an article about the convention for Hispabrick Magazine. Busy times!

A 110m square vacations villa close to Playa Junquilal, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. The house is located on a decent slope which gives the oportunity to access by the first floor, in a light weighted wood box that contains the living areas and a small bedroom. This volume lays over concrete walls that defines the owner`s night area. It overhangs over the small pool to protect it from midday sun. The pool`s position also helps to cool down air temperature and refresh the two bedrooms during the afternoon, when the sun is the strongest. The roof is made of standard sheet of corrugated zinc on steel structure which reduce time, economic and energy costs. It extends itself over the 20 m square terrace by textile canvas, diffusing the light into the spaces while protecting from heat or rain.

In the 1920s and 1930s, under the visionary impulse of Tomáš Baťa, these iconic brick houses rose across Zlín, Moravia. ✨ Conceived as modular dwellings, each with identical plans, they formed the fabric of a utopian industrial city – where work, life, and architecture embraced harmony. 🌐
These Bata houses, with their minimalist cubes, flat roofs, and practical dimensions, reflect the social ideals of early modernism: simplicity, rationality, and dignity for workers. ️🌿 Even today, their rhythm along the streets evokes a sense of order and quiet poetry, where geometry meets the human scale. 💭
Your photograph captures not only their structure but their soul – the hidden stories embedded in each window and brick. A testimony of a century where architecture became a promise for a better future. ✨

House with a view in Costa Rica.
The roof shape permit rain water collection and increases natural ventilation of the indoor spaces. The plan has been thought to reduce circulations spaces so that the house works like a loft. The pool is south oriented so that it cools down the open facade and creates a breeze between the two terraces.

Bagace, Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
Two storey house for a single family. The living space are located on the second floor to take profit of the spectacular view on the Miravalles and Tenorios volcanoes. The 3 bedrooms house has only 145m square of indoor space but count on an ample terrace that gives to the pool. The overhanging roof protects the building from the winter strong rains as from the heat of most midday and afternoon sun. All direct light is filtered by shutters otherwise. The roofs shape also allow visual continuity on its north and south end. It also gives indirect natural lighting to the living space and the two rooms that are upstairs. The dimensions has been conceived to reduce loss of the manufactured products and rational use of the structural beems and columns.
