Been working on a few items and this is one of the items that I'll be releasing soon. Hope everyone's been having a great new year so far!
taken at HYS
The common english name of Bombus hypnorum is the Tree Bee, it's a recent colonist to the UK from France and has been nicknamed 'Le Bee'. The combination of ginger thorax and black and white halved abdomen are instantly recognisable. The first record in Britain was as recently as 2001 in nearby West Wellow in Hampshire.
There's been a lot of interest in this piece lately, so I thought I'd show where I'm at with it currently. About 200 hours so far, a little more than 50% finished.

I was given a sheet of magazine scraps which had been applied to a background in a haphazard manner and was asked to use this as a source of inspiration!
I find this sort of challenge VERY difficult as I usually work to an idea, not an image.
After a mild panic I decided to gesso the whole page in an attempt to tone down the images and then I used it to create a folder which I then die cut and embossed.
I then grabbed the scrap bag and started to machine embroider images which started to leap from the page.
This is one sample.
There hasn’t been much progress the last few days and the tiniest bit of doubt about finishing has started to creep in. Tested lightly #brickbending a section of cruiseSHIP hull though and pretty happy with the subtle curve.

work in progress. Insallation. Planning to make HEAPS of these botanical paper forms. The are dipped in wax and are attached to wire.
I'm claiming this as still 'WiP' since it doesn't quite line up with the rest of my stock (yet).
Presented here in DB Schenker 'cherry red' for parts availability of 1x2 grille bricks over blue.
So this is the result of some 20 days' (on and off) t*rd polishing. Not really quite satisfied with it, but I've run out of inspiration for now!
Progress on a WIP that's actually been sitting around for a while. Don't worry, I'm working on my next BioCup2018 entry too!
