Turn and face the strange..." All very well for you to say, Bowie. You didn''t have to go through the menopause.

The texture on the curtains is intentionally cringe. This image is meant to make the viewer feel uncomfortable and on edge. Haptic photography...

In memory of the hundreds of Bishnoi Women, who died protecting their dear trees in 1730, a number of khejri trees are planted around the area, which is still notably lush and rich with animal life. The Bishnoi sacrifices became the inspiration for a much larger Chipko movement that is still growing today, in which villagers physically embrace trees to save them from logging. The Bishnoi faith is founded on 29 principles, most of which promote environmental stewardship. Bishnois strictly forbid the harming of trees and animals.

AND thanks to my AWESOME friend who sent this to me. Un-*ing believable that this is still a fight in 2016.

Oh, and there's more regulations about what can occur with women's bodies than there are about guns.

Un-*ing Believable.

My kingdom for a purple door! Last month took pictures at a self-directed fun run in aid of Women's Health in Toronto. Part of the run was a photo scavenger hunt. Racers were given a list of things to take photos of during the event. Most were easy to find except a home with a purple door! Four weeks later a good friend who lives on Ward's Island took a picture of a neighbour's purple door and box of fireworks! Last item on my to take list is a picture of a Lamborghini. Inspired Women are Empowered Women

The goal of gender equality has been at the centre of the economic and political agenda during the two decades since the adoption of the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. In September 2015, world leaders adopted the 17 new global Sustainable Development Goals and 169 targets. Goal 5 focuses specifically on gender equality and the empowerment of women. Financial independence is key to women empowerment.

Violence against women and girls is everyone's problem. It brings down an entire society. We are ALL touched by femicide in India. Census data shows that poverty and illiteracy are not key factors in India’s female genocide as many assume. The survival of girls is determined by a patriarchal politics of wealth control.

International Women’s Day 2019: Think equal, build smart, innovate for change

Built by the health department for £6700 in 1919 to combat an unwanted legacy of WW1 ; venereal disease. This was the Women's VD Clinic on Little Lonsdale Street - to service the nearby ''back slum'' brothel district of the ''Little Lon'' area and supplement the men's VD clinic on Lonsdale Street.

This building together with the neighbouring Dept of Forensic Medicine (formerly a tuberculosis clinic) have been nominated by the City of Melbourne for heritage protection but the owner of the site has plans to demolish them to make way for a highrise development.

In the early 20th century, venereal disease was one of the deadliest infectious diseases in the world and in 1916 it was estimated 10 per of children in Melbourne were ''syphilised''.
