Wolves of Yellowstone

In 1995 wolves were reintroduced into Yellowstone National Park, after a 70 year absence. They were introduced because the elk had been overgrazing inside the park. They were introduced to balance out the ecosystem. In other words they were supposed to bring the wild back into Yellowstone. And they have been successful.

"Yellowstone wolves are causing a trophic cascade of ecological change, including helping to increase beaver populations and bring back aspen, and vegetation." The elk carcass in the photos had been brought down by wolves and that carcass is feeding the whole community of wildlife. In addition to keeping the elk populations under control and on the move wolves also keep the coyote populations in control.
