Jia J.: is daddy mowing the lawn?
Mommy: yea.
Jia J.: i can’t hear him? are you sure he’s lawn mowing?
Mommy: yea, just turn your switch off and you can hear the lawn mower.
Jia J.: [shuts off switch] ohh, yea. i hear.
Mommy: you know, years ago there was a very nice man. he was an older white man (INFJ), who’d come to our house and mow our lawn for a very good price. Daddy hired him because he already mows a lot of peoples lawns and since he was here, it was perfect. The man mowed our lawn for a fair price. He was always on time, did his work well, and helped us a lot. i don’t think he needed the money, i really don’t think he needed the money. he did it as a good use of time. most people charge a lot for lawn mowing, especially with everything getting more and more expensive.
[in Kim’s head]: it also probably made your Daddy feel special because he’s a black man and there was a white man mowing our lawn. on the next episode of your dad’s going to yell about how he’s still a black man in a white mans world. or yell at me about something i did in the past BEFORE i even met him. UGH!

Jia J.: does he have kids? any children?
Mommy: yes, us!
Jia J.: really?
Mommy: yes, we’re his children. Daddy and Mommy are his children and you guys are his grandkids.
Jia J.: are you sure you’re not his grandchildren?
Mommy: that’s fine too, then you guys are his great-grandchildren!
Jia J.: oh, ok Mommy [hops around] [continues playing with switch].
Mommy: he was a very nice man. he was kind and helpful to Daddy and Mommy.
