On a stroll on Lantau island with the iPhone to see what I can capture with it.

Strolling Through the streets of Legian (Bali, Indonesia). I bumped into this old guy...I sat and we spoke for about an hour...He told me stories of the old Bali, before the tourism industry took over his beautiful little island. When the beach was lined with beautiful rainforest instead of hotels... He explained that he was not happy with the change but understands it needed to be done to help their struggling economy.....I learnt a lot from this guy and am forever grateful for the time he gave me to tell his story.

Picked this little eye-catcher at Big Lots today. I wish they would have had "Serenity", but them's the breaks, I guess.

365 Days Photo #2

ODC2...Negative space...Goddess of Wisdom, I had to fill that negative space with one of her quotes.

In the House of China in Brussels - Au Pavillon Chinois à Bruxelles

By three methods we may learn wisdom: first, by reflection, which is noblest; second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.

Wisdom laid her newest egg on November 29, 2013 - exactly a year and one day since she laid her last egg! She and her mate are currently brooding the egg. Wisdom is the oldest banded, wild bird in the world and has nested consecutively at the refuge since 2008. Wisdom's continued contribution to the albatross population is remarkable and important. Keep following us on Tumblr and Facebook for updates on Wisdom!

Read more about Wisdom:

"Everything is based on mind, is led by mind, is fashioned by mind. If you speak and act with a polluted mind, suffering will follow you, as the wheels of the oxcart follow the footsteps of the ox. If you speak and act with a pure mind, happiness will follow you, as a shadow clings to a form."

My lower two teeth were impacted so I had to have them cut out. What a fun experience.

This West African symbol is called the Ananse Ntontan, which means the spider's web. It is the symbol of wisdom and creativity.

A spider can be found at the base of a window sill, yet days later can be found to have filled the entire "empty" space with an intricately woven web. The spider can then travel to any point in that empty space, rest, move again, stop, etc. No other entity can do so. He is the owner of the space and the many "roads" of the web.

A work in progress... still need to grout.

I have used old costume jewelry, rusty antique drawer pull backing for the top of the owl's head, beads, stained glass, glass tiles and buttons.

that's not blood, it's decay...

The first one (on the left) has an extra point (I don't know what to call the bits on the griding surface) growing out of its side -- yeah, that's useful.

I have always liked the idea of doors. I remember years ago taking photos of doors in a sleepy California beachside town - I guess I have just liked them forever. They represent new beginnings - or ends. You usually can't see what lies beyond them. There is an inherent risk, a decision, in opening them and moving through them.

In this case, this door caught my eye, both for its grandeur and the lighting. I saw this while walking around on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin. College kids walk through these doors every day, starting anew, taking risks, and hopefully gaining the wisdom they are seeking.

Wisdom from William David Thoreau... great advice for photographers.

I love this necklace, it's made of my actual wisdom teeth. I've had it for years now. I'm thinking of redoing the charms on it to make it look prettier again.

I get the best reactions to it. People always ask if they're real, and when I tell them yes they give me such a funny face. Then I explain that they're my own and they relax a little but still think they're freaky/cool.

in this radiograph a lower wisdom tooth in a 30year old man is causing trouble - it will not erupt in the oral cavity. However, it has got the nuisance value of damaging the tooth lying infront ie second molar.

This is my grandfather, Victor. A humble man, begins his days very early and works his tools with admirable strength and dedication.

I enjoy visiting him and have him dust off a story or two, and try to learn from his hard earned knowledge.

What an honor to carry this man's blood.

Es un verdadero honor llevar la sangre de este hombre.

I haven't been out and about with my camera very much lately so I thought it would be interesting to explain my Flickr absence with an alternative sort of image. I've recently had two wisdom teeth removed in seperate operations on the bottom jaw. The last one got yanked today so now I'm free of them! This is an X-ray of my head which was taken shortly before the first tooth extraction. You don't need to be a dentist to see that the teeth at both ends of the lower jaw shouldn't be impacted at right-angles to the rest of the mouth, so I was eager to get the surgery out of the way.

Anthropologists believe wisdom teeth, the third set of molars, were the evolutionary answer to our ancestor’s early diet of coarse, rough food – like leaves, roots, nuts and meats – which required more chewing power and resulted in excessive wear of the teeth. The modern diet with its softer foods, along with marvels of modern technologies such as forks, spoons and knives, has made the need for wisdom teeth nonexistent. As a result, evolutionary biologists now classify wisdom teeth as vestigial organs, or body parts that have become functionless due to evolution. Indeed, many people are lucky enough to be born with the fortunate genetic mutation of having no wisdom teeth at all - apparently you have a 25% chance of being born with at least one or more of them missing.

A majestic African elephant, dusted in sand, roams the arid savanna. Its weathered skin tells the story of resilience, wisdom, and the untamed beauty of the wild. Captured in the heart of Etosha National Park, this gentle giant embodies the spirit of Africa’s vast landscapes.

I usually don't photograph people - especially not random strangers. There was just something interesting about these two; they were deep in conversation for a good length of time. The eldery woman had a wonderfully expressive face.

I may make this photo private after a while... I am just curious as to how much 'attention' this shot is going to attract.
