Yesterday we went to Winterthur to see the Azalea woods at the peak of the bloom season. It was amazing! So beautiful and vast...more picture to come!
In addition to the Azaleas, there were Trilliums, Virginia Bluebells, Wood Hyacinths and numerous wild flowers along the paths.
at Winterthur. We just came back from an enchanted week of gardens and museums in the Wilmington Delaware area.
We had the Enchanted Woods- intended for kids- to ourselves on a lovely weekday. Although an adult can stand up once inside the cottage, it is scaled for little ones and is complete with furnishings inside! It is made of stacked stone mixed with pieces of ornamental cement items like balusters and decorations. Topped off with a thatched roof and an eagle on the chimney! Just a delightful place!!

Almost 60 years ago, collector and horticulturist Henry Francis du Pont (1880–1969) opened his childhood home, Winterthur, to the public.
Winterthur is set amidst a 1,000-acre preserve of rolling meadows and woodlands. Designed by du Pont, its 60-acre naturalistic garden is among America’s best, with magnificent specimen plantings and massed displays of color. (winterthur.org)
Another chance encounter with a "BoBo", after the previous photo. This one is not great weather-wise, but it is my first photo of a TransRail class Re 4/4II in either the TEE (no. 11393) or Rheingold (no. 11387) liveries, here hauling a special train for travel agency ZRT, which had organised a Pentecost weekend trip to Rosenheim (D). Although historically, no Re 4/4 II was ever painted in this livery, I do think it looks rather good on the loco! Winterthur, 03-06-2022.

Der Heiligberg bekam seinen Namen vom Chorherrenstift Heiligenberg, das von 1225 bis 1525 beim heutigen Rosengarten stand.

Ein kleiner Spaziergang von Winterthur hinauf zum Heiligberg und man ist in einer anderen Welt. Beim genauen Hinsehen entdeckt man die Kirchtürme von Winterthur.

Almost 60 years ago, collector and horticulturist Henry Francis du Pont (1880–1969) opened his childhood home, Winterthur, to the public. Today, Winterthur (pronounced “winter-tour”) is the premier museum of American decorative arts, with an unparalleled collection of nearly 90,000 objects made or used in America between about 1640 and 1860. The collection is displayed in the magnificent 175-room house, much as it was when the du Pont family lived here, as well as in permanent and changing exhibition galleries.
On the house tour we got to see about 20 of those rooms. The house is nine stories tall! An amazing place.
