“The Winning Hand” is a reference to the U.S and its allies during World War I. The U.S. entered the war on April 6, 1917, nearly three years after it started. The war ended with an armistice on November 11, 1918.

I think I have the winning hand! :-)
Have a wonderful week everyone!
Remember when playing cards required a deck not a computer or slot-machine. I do! Actually, I still play with cards but lots of folks only play electronic games these days.
Of course you can! The negative people will say no, they are hard done by, life has given them the short end but, really has it?
I have had my share of "loosing hands" - like many as a teen suffered heart break but it made me stronger when I look back. I have lost both my parents and having no siblings I am an orphan but again, I have a great husband and five wonderful kids and ten grandchildren so I am not alone. I have made mistakes that cost my things that I thought were near and dear but in the long run those mistakes have made me learn from them. I have had few true good friends in my life but those I have I am blessed that they came into my life and brought with them their outook on life and their being which again have helped to make me a better person and hopefully a better friend.
I could not play the piano that great even though I was "forced to take lessons as a kid" however, even today I can sit and play the little drummer boy like I was in grade school. I came from an artistic family and yet I could not draw a stick man to save my soul. A few years back I bought a little canon S1iS and found I had a passion for this art form. I have been a part of two successful photographic shows with people that I am truly proud to be associated with and call friends. I am by no means as good as many of my friends and aquaintenances however I like what I am doing, have seen myself "evolve" and so for that I am blessed.
So on the cusp of the Christian worlds celebration Easter and what it means, I can count my winning hands that I have been dealt. They far outway the loosing hands. I hope when you count yours you too can say you have been dealt many winning hands - you just probably forgot what they were.
Blinds were R16,000/R32,000 Gareth went all-in with his entire chip stack of R32,000 and my pocket 9s won through
To see the flop, only 6 chips wouldn't have to be bet (2x R2000 and 4x R100 chips)

Week 27, Assignment 1 for Take A Class With Dave And Dave.
3 of a kind. Your picture will have three of something in the frame. We shouldn't need to puzzle it out, let the strength of the three elements be the anchor.
The minute I read "3 of a kind" this shot popped into my head, although after Saturday night I thought about posting this one instead. LOL
I know some of you might think this is sort of a strange shot for me, but Texas Hold Em is definitely a big hobby of mine. It is one of my favorite games and I have made a few dollars playing it.
oh. my. goodness.
this took FOREVER to get right! i had all sorts of issues with everything from wireless triggers being awkward, the backdrop falling down (and how to hang it up in the first place!), trying to figure how to set it all up in a room that (to be honest) isn't quite big enough...AARRGGHH!
however, i think you get the idea of what i was aiming for, and for that i am thankful!

Pete and I decided that we need to spend some "different time" together.
Not better, not more. Just different.
One of the ways we decided to do that was to pick more things we could do together.
Pete picked the game "Munchkin". And if you're in any way a gaming nerd, you should totally be playing it. It is flippin awesome. We just spent the last two hours laughing and layin' the smack down.
I see many expansion packs and gaming nights with our friends in the future.
