One of the things that the Finger Lakes region in New York State is known for is their wines. I guess the climate and the soil there are very good to grow grapes. So it makes total sense that on the shores of Lake Seneca, there are more than 75 wineries. Now, I have visited a winery to do a tour and afterwards a wine tasting in Napa Valley, another location here in US well known for its wines, but the wineries in Finger Lakes were somehow more "picturesque". Most of them are located on the hills around the lake and during summer you get to taste the local wines while enjoying magnificent views of the lake, usually sitting outside on a patio. Even if the wine is not that good (the wines were excellent, I'm just saying), at least you can take wonderful pictures and just relax with the lake's peaceful water easing your mind.
Stavento - Ηλιοτροπιο στη συννεφια (sunflower under the clouds)
A wonderful winery in Healdsburg, CA. "Inside, inspired by Andy Katz's renowned photography, the rooms and ceilings are designed to take advantage of the natural artwork created by the play of light and shadows throughout the day." I toured this winery last month and loved seeing the incredible photographs while savoring the wines. This winery in Sonoma county was one the highlights of our trip along the coast of CA. Here is the website to view some amazing photographs. The labels of this vineyard are beautiful!

Yalumba is a winery located near the town of Angaston, South Australia in the Barossa Valley wine region. It was founded by a British brewer, Samuel Smith, who emigrated to Australia with his family from Wareham, Dorset in August 1847. Yalumba is Australia’s most historic winery, embodying all that has made the Australian wine success story the envy of winemakers the world over.
Having a light lunch and admiring the vines outside while sampling the local wines.....a brand new and charming industrial setting.....delicious flat bread pizzas! Outside it looks just like the Napa Valley, well, without the mountains!

Taken a couple of years ago, a shot of a winery in the Adelaide Hills.
As many of you have probably seen in the news over Christmas, we've been having devastating bushfires in New South Wales and here in South Australia.
A third of the vineyards across the Adelaide Hills have been completely destroyed by the fires in just one day. These wineries will struggle to stay in business as it will be 3-5 years before they can be fully productive again.
Fence(d) Friday
Stu had a gig at the Winery, so I wandered off, as usual, and took a zillion photos of the area. It's gorgeous up there! I think the Robin sitting on the fence post would agree with me!
A winery that produces over 50 varieties of wines. Lunch and dinner offering pizzas and paninis, along with salads, cheese plates and more. They are also a place where customers can make their own batch (28-30 bottles) of wine from the selection of our juices and add a custom label for a special event, gift, or keepsake
