In May and June I was very privileged to be a guest and tour the island of Elba off of Italy's west coast. Besides a new and wonderful friendship with my hosts, the idea for the future is to promote an appreciation of Elba's wonderful geology, plants, animals and life. I feel so lucky to have had this experience.

Part of it caught on fire so they shut the whole thing down for 2+ years. Only recently reopened, but it's barely staying open now.

In the Paro Valley, Western Bhutan.
Tachog or Tachogang Lhakhang was built by Tangtong Gyelpo in the fifteenth century. The temple was likely constructed in 1420. While the Tibetan master was meditating here, he had a vision of an emanation of Avalokiteshvara and decided to built a temple as well as an iron suspension bridge at this location. Tachogang lies on the way from Paro to the capital Thimpu. A new temple at Tachogang was built in the seventeenth century by the Fourth Druk Desi Tendzin Rabgye, as the original was destroyed after it served as the main seat for the Five Groups of Lamas, a coalition of local leaders who had opposed the Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel.
Morelia's UNESCO designated Centro Historico is replete with lovely pink stone architectural gems. The balance in the design caught the eye in this one.

After visiting Shanghai Museum we took the metro one stop to South Huangpi Road Metro Station and walked into the French Connection area.
The city's most stylish side, the former French Concession is where the bulk of Shànghǎi’s disposable cash is splashed.
Lovely old mansions, new high-rise condos and shopping centres, low-rise, villa-lined leafy backstreets all geared to shopping, dining and entertainment.
The French Concession is the area of Shanghai the French government administered from 1849 until 1946.
Shanghai French Concession is the first, the largest and the most prosperous one among four French Concessions in Modern China. The other three are respectively in Tianjin, Guangzhou and Hankou.
I photographed the oldest house in St. Mary’s, Georgia for work. The house happens to be where Aaron Burr fled to after his duel with Alexander Hamilton, which is an interesting claim to fame. I found this door on the homeowners “She Shed” in the backyard and couldn’t resist taking an iPhone shot of it to add to my windows and doors collection.
Well, here I am with my pink hair... (How'd you know Krista? LOL!) This is the most amazing work of art! Even the men/boys in my house had to play with the drawbridge!!! This was made by lolablueocean in the MQTS Windows/Doors theme!
The quilt alone was a masterpiece, but lolablue sent me this wonderful quilted postcard, and these fabulous fabrics too!!! Thanks again Krista! Still grinning 2 days later!!! (Not to mention playing with the drawbridge...)
