Standing on top of a cliff and shooting the Green Bridge in Wales, reminded me that this is the decade where so many of us finally awoke to realise that climate change is here.

I hope that part of the outcome of the US presidential election will bring a window of opportunity to change matters for the better.

Rejoining the Paris climate accord would be an encouraging first step in the right direction.

I am posting two extra photos today because I have NEVER seen Lake Michigan as turbulent as it has been this afternoon. Gale winds and 10-15 foot waves....I drove the short distance to the end of South Pier Drive due to the pounding wind-driven rain and stood far away from the pier, relying upon my telephoto lens. Never underestimate the power of Lake Michigan. Never.

Massive wind turbines in Imperial County, California. We always see these on Interstate 8 going toward San Diego. Always impressive to see the size of their blades.

I'm leaving for my last day of babysitting and will try to catch up tonight.

Long exposure with no wind. Vacation in Norway

Starker Wind zerstört die Frisur

leaves in the wind...

Estive ausente por muito tempo, mais do que gostaria, vagando ao vento como folhas frágeis ao sabor do acaso. Estive triste e ocupada com perdas muito definitivas. Mas voltarei, tão logo amainem os ventos e a vida.

30 mph winds were a challenge for these Windsurfers who rode the whitecaps at Tomales Bay.

The mountains shift to within touching distance when the warm Föhn wind brushes over the lake.

Can you see the wind ? Sometimes you can.

Very close to Burj Al Arab.

This is most likely the last of my Autumn Dreams series, the extreme wind my area has experienced is certain to have wrecked the last remnants of colored leaves. I'm a sucker for a red tree in fall, this was my last photo on the way out of the highlands Saturday. The pristine look of winter had fallen away in this location, would have been quite the sight a few hours earlier I'm sure. I'm using a black canvas on my snow photos, the bright white border dulls it all down I think.

I have been well satisfied this year with the autumn photos I got staying within 50 or 60 miles from my home. It has helped me find the smaller scenes and I've been blessed to stumble into quite a few gems in a wide variety of circumstances.

Ho scelto un soffione sbiadito

E l'ho fatto saltare in aria

Sono minuscoli paracadute

Andavano fluttuando dappertutto. Hanno preso il vento

E ballato un po '

Piegando avanti e indietro

In splendido stile da ballerina. Finalmente il vento si calmò

Sono tornati sulla terra

E avvolto nel terreno caldo e buio

Per iniziare la loro nuova rinascita. Quando verrà la prossima estate

E i soffioni sono ovunque

Prenderò un altro fiore sbiadito

E lo soffierò nell'aria.

I picked a faded dandelion

And blew it in the air

It's tiny little parachutes

Went floating everywhere. They caught the wind

And danced awhile

Bending to and fro

In splendid ballerina style. Finally as the wind grew still

They floated back to earth

And bedded in the dark warm soil

To start their new rebirth. When next summer comes

And dandelions are everywhere

I'll pick another faded flower

And blow it in the air.

Looking for another subject for the camera and heard of a berg in Chance cove. Not too far to go so... called a friend and headed out for a look. Not great weather, fog, light rain, and wind, but still had a hoot.

Wind pioneer, a maintenance platform.

Our very windy winter continues, and today the wind was blowing vigorously aloft as seen by the snow being scoured off the flagging Mt Yale.

This lighthouse, originally built in 1912 has born the brunt of brutal winds and waves for over a century now. A symbol of a time past, this icon holds fast in January's setting sun.

Created for the 115 in 2015 Group - #114 A Tunnel

We don't have any tunnels locally at all - but what we do have is plenty of wind tunnels, so I'm hoping that this can fit the bill.

Ii is a narrow passage between houses, an alley-way. And the walls are high enough to funnel the wind from the sea (in the distance) right down the tunnel, and make walking hard against the wind. Often you have to lean into the wind to make any progress at all ;o)

Have shot St. Benet's mill a few times before, but some new flood defence works have created some new angles there, including this one which I shot today whilst on a workshop my wife got me as a xmas present last year, which I finally got round to using!

the cold wind paints the waves on the snow, as if it were sand or water.

on the background the Odle Group, Dolomites, Italy.

if you "open" the picture you will "visit" the magnificence of this Alpine landscape.

welcome to the Dolomites : )

Wind Song sculpture is of a lady standing on the side of a hill the storm clouds are huge the sky is dark blue a hawk on her shoulder (on other side of the sculpture) is about to take off and fly before the storm.

High winds whip up huge clouds of blowing snow that cause interesting shadows on the peaks at Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado.

Wood anemone in the Amper floodplains. Is also known as white Easter flower. I wish all flickr friends happy Easter.

Focus stack of twenty individual images. I decided to blur the background, because this gives a more pleasant image impression.

The wind along the Oregon coast can be quite strong, creating wind-swept beaches and large dunes. This is especially true from Coos Bay to Florence, where the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area is found.
