Feeling a little down I decided to walk to the post box for some fresh air. To my pleasant surprise, I received a thoughtful package from Spain!
This little gift of kindness lifted my spirits and reminded me of the lovely friendships we have here on Flickr.
I'm a little slow right now but will catch up over time ;D
peeked out through the grasses to check us out as we traveled down the ALCAN. This was somewhere in the Yukon also.

We've seen an abundance of wildlife at Yellowstone. On one of our first days we saw this female coyote being chased by a deer in an odd reversal of roles. Maybe the deer had young to protect. The coyote was a slight thing, so small I thought it was a fox at first. She followed us around a bit, looking at us like, "I wonder if I could take them down". But a stomp or "whoop" made her scurry away.

Here I just caught the attention of a coyote peeking across the road to see if it was okay for him to cross.
Aesop's Fable - The Hare With Many Friends
A Hare was very popular with the other animals in the jungle who all claimed to be her friends. One day she heard the hounds approaching her and hoped to escape them by the aid of her Friends. So, she went to the horse, and asked him to carry her away from the hounds on his back. But he declined, stating that he had important work to do for his master. "He felt sure," he said, "that all her other friends would come to her assistance." She then applied to the bull, and hoped that he would repel the hounds with his horns. The bull replied: "I am very sorry, but I have an appointment with a lady; but I feel sure that our friend the goat will do what you want." The goat, however, feared that his back might do her some harm if he took her upon it. The ram, he felt sure, was the proper friend to ask for help. So she went to the ram and told him the case. The ram replied: "Another time, my dear friend. I do not like to interfere on the present occasion, as hounds have been known to eat sheep as well as hares." The Hare then applied, as a last hope, to the calf, who regretted that he was unable to help her, as he did not like to take the responsibility upon himself, as so many older persons than himself had declined the task. By this time the hounds were quite near, and the Hare took to her heels and luckily escaped.
Moral of the story :
He that has many friends, has no friends.

While we see Coyotes in the Phoenix area with some frequency, I’m always thrilled to see them. Check this guy out. He looks very lean and fit. This is definitely a boy (he’s got daddy parts) but we didn’t see a female with him. Maybe a youngster. This is rather heavily cropped, but still, I always love seeing the coyotes.
Searles Sea Tours run unique and exciting seal safaris and coastal trips from the beach at Hunstanton. The business dates back to 1929 when Geoffrey Searle built a speedboat and took holiday makers on trips which proved very popular. Over the years various boats have been used including after the war (when trips ceased to be run) two amphibious landing crafts obtain from the War Department. It wasn't until 2001 that The Wash Monster (“Wiley”) was added to the fleet. 2013 saw Wiley get a companion in the form of “Wizzy”, The Wash Monster II. These vehicles known as LARCV's (Lighter Amphibious Resupply Cargo vessels) were originally designed for use in Vietnam by the American Marines and can travel up to 13mph on sand and 8 knots in water. The name came about because of the sharks head (just noticeable under the ramp) painted on the craft by the US Marines during the conflict in the Far East.
Coyote, there are quite a few around here, and they are very timid....probably because they get shot at a lot. Rarely will one be in a position to get a photo of without just getting the hind end. This is the healthiest looking one I think Ive seen.
This beautiful 'Wiley Coyote' was strolling along with it's partner next to the road I was traveling. I stopped got out of the car along with my two birding buddies. One of the coyotes kept it's distance but this one didn't seem to have a care in the world except for where it's nest meal would be.
We're back in our sunny mild temps here in sunny California...:)...wishing you the same, have a wonderful day and thank you for your visit and comments.

Took this shot (in town) with my 24-240mm fully zoomed. The coyote was over 100 meters out. So this is a heavy crop. Still had enough detail that I wanted to share it. The coyote seems to be healthy and looks to be growing a thick coat in anticipation of winter.
is lurking again, ..... on top of sheds and garage roofs.
This is fine until nearby dogs get a whiff of them and all start barking.
this lovely person has a birthday today!! it’s been too long since Wiley and I were in the same place (Colorado, Nov 2024), but can’t wait until we are again — and hope you have an amazing birthday today!!! 🎂🎉❤️
22nd September 2019 - One to watch... Gizmo Varillas was the support act for 'Rodrigo y Gabriela' but is getting airplay of his own on UK radio.
From his Website:
Following sizeable radio and playlist support for his ‘Out Of The Darkness’ single (released in May 2019), Gizmo Varillas returns with a new single ‘Danza Da Sombras’ on August 16th.
‘Out Of The Darkness’ received plays on BBC Radio Two (Jo Wiley), BBC 6 Music (Chris Hawkins;Tom Robinson), BBC Radio Wales (Janice Long; Adam Walton), BBC London (Gary Crowley) and Amazing Radio (Shell Zenner), and was also added to Spotify’s ‘A Perfect Day’, ‘Discover With Friends’, ‘Feel Good Dinner’ and ‘FIFA 19’ playlists, as well as to the Apple Music ‘A List’ and ‘Breaking Singer Songwriter’ playlists.
And now, hot on the heels of ‘Out Of The Darkness’, comes ‘Danza Da Sombras’. The second single to be taken from his forthcoming third album, Gizmo explains “Danza de sombras means dancing shadows in Spanish. It’s a metaphor for the constant dance between light and dark, good and evil”.
“They say the eyes are the window to the soul... In Danza de Sombras I take a closer look, it's a love song to the world and our humanity. There will always be shadows that walk beside us, but the important thing is to not forget the beauty that surrounds us”.
Take a listen to the sun-drenched, dreamlike harmonies, flamenco flourishes, and soaring chorus of ‘Danza Da Sombras’.
Previous albums ‘Dreaming Of Better Days’ (2018) and ‘El Dorado’ (2017) have seen Gizmo amass huge acclaim. Featured on a number of Netflix shows, fans have streamed his music more than 13 million times on Spotify (with 275,000 monthly listeners; 700,000 monthly streams), his music has received similar big love from radio stations, with plays on BBC 6 Music (Lauren Laverne, Chris Hawkins, Tom Robinson, Radcliffe; Maconie), Amazing Radio (A List; No. 11 Radio Chart), BBC London (Jo Good, Gary Crawley ; Robert Elms), and BBC Radio Wales (Janice Long; Adam Walton).
Gizmo will play his first London headline show of 2019 at Camden Assembly on November 26th.
There are a few highlights to see when you're driving north on Hwy. 65 out of Conway. First is the inherent silliness of the name of Pickles Gap (I mean, what is the dill with it?). Then there is the dramatic excitement of the runaway truck ramp. After that, as you begin to approach the Leslie metro area, you can see the iconic red barn at Wileys Cove. The barn is scenically situated along a hillside, with a blanket of trees behind it.
