What does it like to grow up as an Orang Asli kid in Pos Betau?
You'd know the answer had you been born as one.
Maybe you don't think about the future all that much because it doesn't really matter all that much to you.
The future is too distant when you see young adults zooming past on motorcycles, mostly married with children. Wife hardly past her teen. Husband hardly past his puberty.
And you see your brothers and sisters, divorced with children. Only to marry again either with someone in the village. Or a young boy from the neighbouring village, his hair dyed orange as the morning sun.
You also see your mother married to a new father hardly older than your elder brother. And your father has got himself a new wife. A widow with children she has gave up counting.
The Future.
Que Sera Sera. What will be will be.
