A somewhat non-descript footbridge leads to a secluded island in the Japanese Gardens at Meijer Gardens. It was a very serene setting.
Autumn means "mums", my favorite fall flowers. These fancy mums were in a mass planting at Meijer Gardens, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
A 51-foot tall cylindrical, steel lighthouse was built at this location on the South Pier, Grand Haven, Michigan in 1905. The outlying front light and fog signal building was added in 1922.
Though the air was relatively still and it was a bright sunny morning, waves were high enough to make the pier wet and slippery. On stormy days, the waves can be very high, dangerously washing over the pier, making the lighted catwalk to the lighthouse an important feature.
An overview of the lake in the Japanese Garden at Meijers Gardens, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
By following a spiraling path that ascended a large (constructed) hill, we could get a 360-degree view of the entire garden, arriving at the top for this overview of the lake.
The Japanese Garden is only one area of the massive Meijer Gardens.
As a kid growing up on a rural farm in Michigan, my old fat-tired bicycle was my main form of transportation on the dusty dirt roads. This barn was a frequent pedal-by (not in the winter though!). Textures by Distressed Jewell and SkeletalMess.

I was able to call in this Eastern Bluebird at Grand River Park on Sunday morning. Looks like he brought his breakfast with him.
Freedom Riders
As I was photographing an incredible overlook of Lake Michigan along the Western Michigan shoreline, the man on the far right in this photograph asked me to take a picture of his group with his cellphone. After doing so, I asked permission to make my own photograph with my camera. He agreed, and said "you're taking a picture of REAL Harley riders". I replied "and you're getting your picture taken with a REAL camera". He looked perplexed, shook his head, smiled, and that was that. Ride on.

This photograph of the Ludington lighhouse was taken about 10 am on a late October morning. I am facing westward; so the sun, of course, is behind me reflecting on the clouds. It is an extremely windy day, evidenced by the whitecaps in the harbor and the waves cresting over the breakwall.
Added to the Cream of the Crop pool as my "most favorited" photograph.

Its "World Photography Day"
In honor of that occasion, here is a pic from the U.P. of Michigan looking outward over Lake Superior. Loved it up there. Would go back in a heartbeat!
The bench sat alone inviting visitors along the trail in October light at Hoffmaster State Park along the shores of Lake Michigan in western Michigan.

Graffiti covered the beams and walls of the old weather-worn barn in Western Michigan near Lake Michigan.
