Judging from the different angles of the various barns, someone was Rollin' while building them. I was not going to include a barn shot today, but Donna (www.flickr.com/photos/158616136@N03/) reminded me that Keith (www.flickr.com/photos/186688059@N06/) feels great stress when too many days pass before I post one. Keith's wellbeing and happiness has always been one of my primary concerns, so please enjoy, Keith.

In these uncertain times it can be a struggle to understand how you can go on, how to look after your own well-being as well as those around you. There is always hope.

There have been shops on Ponte Vecchio since the 13th century. Initially, there were all types of shops, including butchers and fishmongers and, later, tanners, whose "industrial waste" caused a pretty rank stench in the area. In 1593, Ferdinand I decreed that only goldsmiths and jewelers be allowed to have their shops on the bridge in order to improve the wellbeing of all, including their own as they walked over the bridge.
I met this little group in my park the other day. They are part of Wheels for Wellbeing (wheelsforwellbeing.org.uk/) that provides disabled people with mobility; the gent on the left had had a stroke. The young lady allowed me to have a go on hers & it was wonderful! I quite fancy one!

Today is the first day of NAIDOC week
In the city there was a gathering with lots of speeches and musical entertainment to gather support for the ‘Vote Yes’ campaign for the referendum later this year to actually give the indigenous people of this country a voice in Parliament. Amazing that this still has to happen!!! Hoping for an overwhelming ‘Yes’ vote of course.
NAIDOC Week (National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee) occurs annually in July, and celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
What is the Voice to Parliament?
The Voice would provide permanent representation and recognition for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Constitution.
It would be a new body that represents First Nations people from across Australia to provide their input into federal government, decisions, policies and laws that affect their lives.
This would be on matters relating to the social, spiritual and economic wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The Voice would be an advisory body, but it would not have powers to overrule parliament, commonly known as "veto" powers
A view that just evokes a sense of awe and wellbeing. The changing view of this majestic mountain revealing itself through the clouds on one fine morning in the Alps.
Hiroshima, Japan
I've always had a fascination with engineering and construction, wherever I've been if there's a tall building to be climbed... I've climbed it and Japan has been no exception. There is an instant "wow" factor with all of these structures but the sensation and memories soon fade as there is little to no personal interaction or connection with any of them. As an avid viewer of Kevin McCloud's Grand Designs I'm in total agreement with his philosophy that good architecture should enrich the human spirit and improve the wellbeing of all that live or work within them, not that I know anything about such ideologies or how one designs such buildings.
Having been back home from Japan for just over a month now I've been dying to write this part of my travel blog, as this building is worthy of a few lines and a definite "must visit" if you ever go to Hiroshima.
From the street, Hiroshima Orizuru Tower does not standout. The A-Bomb Dome building on the other side of the road is what visiting tourists come to see. However, it's a nice looking building but modest in exterior appearance. It is only a 13 storey building, comprising of a cafe and souvenir shop on the 1st floor; rented meeting rooms on the 2nd; and rented office spaces covering the 3rd to 11th floors, But for visiting tourists, it is the rooftop observation deck, "Sampo" spiral slope and the Orizuru Wall that make this such a special place to visit and I'm not just talking about the view over the A-Bomb Dome and surrounding landscape, which in their own right are worthy of the admission price alone.
You will have to bare with me on this one as I want to upload my images out of sequence starting with the observation deck - Hiroshima Hills. What was meant to be a quick visit, grab some photos of the setting sun and then out for dinner somewhere turned out to be the "ultimate chill out with a view" and relaxing experience that rounded off the perfect day for me that started so happily in the Peace Memorial Park. We almost missed the sunset because of the fun we were having just climbing the building, but that will be the subject of another upload so I'll keep stum for now.
When you finally reach the top floor the clever interior design continues by delaying the vista as long as possible. There is one final staircase you must climb, no more than 5 or 6ft (if my memory serves me right) that only affords you a glimpse of the sky. Only when your eye line reaches the top step do you see the full panorama of this stunning observation deck and you instantly rush up the few remaining steps to survey the whole scene before you.
Once there you realise that the small staircase is nothing more than a clever device to position you for maximum visual impact as it welcomes you to Hiroshima Hills. Only then, do you notice that the whole deck flows away from you back down to ground level from where you've just climbed. The observation deck is completely open to the elements on the north, south and west sides, but you can't see the A-Bomb Dome from this vantage point, you have to walk down the slope to the west side for that view. To my mind, another example of carefully thought out design that doesn't focus on the past and the dome but presents the surrounding landscape to you first and foremost.
The whole of the observation deck is constructed from timber and oozes the very best of what I'm sure is the highest of Japanese craftsmanship. The floor and pillars are made from Japanese cypress, while the roof is made from Japanese cedar. It genuinely is a "wow" moment but that is quickly replaced with a sensation of calmness and peacefulness. Even as a photographer it is hard to resist these emotions and focus purely on photography for you just want to sit down, like everybody else, and soak up the atmosphere of this place. The lighting again is understated, just like the A-Bomb Dome, and compliments the warm tones and textures of the timber enticing you to touch and feel the grain. There is a cafe/bar at the rear where you can purchase a nice bottle of wine to pass a pleasant hour watching the sun sink below the Hiroshima hills. I just wish we had spotted that sooner.
We spent over an hour just relaxing here, so chilled out by the experience I really didn't take that many photos but just enough to capture the moment. It really was difficult to leave but I'm glad we did else we would have missed out on another highlight of the Orizuru Tower... the floor below and hopefully my next upload.
If you've never heard of this building that's because it only opened officially on the 23th September 2016 after a major refurbishment and rebranding. Formally known as the Mazda building.

The learning center SQUARE is an extension of the campus of the University of St. Gallen (HSG). The university calls the new building an " experimental field " for new formats of learning and teaching, which, when mature, will be integrated into the " normal " HSG education.
Sou Fujimoto Architects, based in Tokyo and Paris, won the architectural competition with its "Open Grid" project. The jury attested it "an excellent interpretation and implementation of the didactic concept". Thanks to numerous major sponsors and donations from HSG alumni, operations could begin in the spring semester of 2022, as planned in the ambitious timetable, after a short construction period of around two years.
The building consists of several cubes arranged in a grid pattern, which range in height from 3.5 to 18.5 meters. Inside, modular building elements that are acoustically and visually connected to each other allow for adaptation to specific didactic needs such as panel discussions, lectures or exams. The new learning center creates space for 500 to 700 learning and workstations.

The theme this year was ' Health and Wellbeing ' which meant all aspects of the pageant in Liverpool City Centre on June 5th was for a much healthier emphasis on lifestyles as hundreds took to the streets for a vibrant and colourful pageant with a difference !
(Still no PC, be using my Lil' Sis's when I visit her every couple of days to either upload or comment, no time for both)
There wasn’t a petrol powered vehicle in sight – everything was to be run by foot, solar, battery or pedal power making this the most environmentally and fitness friendly Lord Mayors Pageant ever !
The parade made its way through the city centre on a loop circuit for about 100mins and the delightful dancers never stopped once despite it being an extremely hot day, a pleasant change to last year when it rained non stop during the pageant !

For the last 15 years working as a senior lecturer at London South Bank University (#LSBU) I loved to spend a lot of my spare time engaging with nature through wildlife photography. For the last three years I've found that wildlife photography helps combat the extreme stress induced physical and mental health problems imposed on my by LSBU as senior managers sought to win the employment tribunal claim at any financial cost to LSBU and me and at any cost to my health and wellbeing. LSBU subjected me to such extreme unnecessary workplace stress to such an extent that senior managers and colleagues caused me to suffer serious physical and mental health problems. The horrible treatment pushed me to the brink of suicide, certified by UK medical practitioners.
To help destress I put my mind to taking a range of Chrismas photos. Some of them are presented here.I enjoyed a lovely calming walk in Richmond Park, London, England Today (Boxing Day, 26 December 2022). Lucky to see a group of mostly male immature adult Red Deer in the late afternoon winter sun. Then an ariel display of Red Kite mobbing by about a dozen Crows.
I usually walk among the Fittie housing and tarry sheds when I have some time while waiting on ships arriving or leaving the harbour, today I choose to walk along the main street where locals parks their cars , I've passed this building many times though never noticed the scripted block with info of the buildings origins and date etc, took a photo to archive for my Flickr, this is the result .
The Gospel Hall is located on New Pier Road, within the conservation area of Footdee. This building was constructed as recently as 1951 and was initially used as a place of worship. A full-immersion baptismal font remains a defining feature of the erstwhile Gospel Hall.
From 1990 to 2014, the building was rented as a studio by respected RSA artist, Joyce Cairns. Among a great many distinctive, large scale paintings-many inspired by and featuring the village of Fittie, her significant body of work “War Tourist” was produced within the four walls of the hall.
When Joyce’s tenancy came to an end in April 2014, members of the Castlehill and Pittodrie Community Council began informal inquiries into the vacant property being acquired for the benefit of village residents.
Residents of a historic fishing community have joined together in a bid to buy a disused gospel hall from the local authority.
In a first for Aberdeen City Council, the residents of Footdee, know locally as Fittie, will take over ownership of the old Gospel Hall from the local authority via a community asset transfer.
This relatively new legislation introduces a right for community bodies to make requests to all local authorities for land or buildings they feel they could make better use of.
The building, which dates back to 1951 in its current form, will be acquired by the non-profit charity Fittie Community Development Trust which is an association of 60 residents of the former fishing village.
The local authority has approved the terms of the sale with the trust on course to buy the building in which they want to hold community events.
The trust has received £50,000 from the Scottish Land Fund and is raising cash to renovate the hall, with an anticipated opening date of summer 2018.
Trust chairwoman Pauline Brown said: “The purchase of this building to use as a community hall is an important and positive development for the village of Fittie.
“We have been heartened by the support of Aberdeen City Council in helping to make this happen.
“Providing the Fittie community with a physical location to hold meetings and social, recreational and educational clubs and events will provide opportunities for residents of all ages to engage in activities which will support community cohesion, develop interests and improve general health and wellbeing.”
The gospel hall, on New Pier Road, was initially used as a place of worship for local fishermen but was later rented as a studio by artist Joyce Cairns from 1990 to 2014.
Members of Castlehill and Pittodrie Community Council then began informal inquiries before the trust led the campaign to buy it.
Fittie resident Mary Falconer, who has lived in the village for 35 years, said it was “wonderful news” for the community.
She said: “Now we can look forward to opening the doors to a historic building that’s been part of the village for many years but has been empty and disused for some time.
“This building will bring pleasure to local people and we look forward to being able to share some community activities and our history and heritage with the wider community, showing another side of Fittie life.”
