"Into the dark

I found you by the lake

We were so close

but I couldn't bear the weight

Cause you were a shadow

and I left you in the shade

I was still running from all of my mistakes

Cut to the fallout

when the silence stole our words

I was still fighting

for all that you deserved

Although it seems likely

that I left before the storm

The truth is I couldn't

leave you wanting more

I traced my lies to the coast

All I could find was your ghost... "

I think we've got some wild and windy cold weather later this week , so I hope for some good beach fun. It'll make a. change from my adder watching. I've seen well over twenty individuals so far this year. the males should be shedding their skins soon then looking for females. So much to look forward to. Weights and Measures is by Dry the River

On this trip it was fun trying to come up with a variety of different compositions given the same subject and viewpoint.

For this shot, I found these rocks that are emerging from the still lake reminded me of the rocks placed in a zen garden.

They help to balance and ground the composition by introducing some visual weight at the bottom of the image, in addition to the depth they bring by being in the foreground.

Let me know what you think!

In the picture from the Cumbre pass, we can see the push of a freight train from the port of Mejillones to the Prat loop, where the push is disconnected and helps another train back to the port via the Cumbre pass. The front of the train will continue north to one of the mines where it will take its cargo.

In 2023, FCAB transported 7.1 million tons of cargo by rail, approximately half of which was transportation of sulfuric acid (that is, more than 3 million tons of this commodity). The acid is transported to mines in northeastern Chile, and most of it goes to the Chuquicamata mine (which is located north of the city of Calama, at an altitude of 2,770 meters above sea level). Around 650,000 tons of copper are produced annually in that mine.

At the head of this 28-car long acid train is a trio of locomotives 1422, 1403 and 2404. All EMD production, with the only difference being that each of the locomotives is of a different type. Locomotive FCAB 1422 is a GR12UM type and was built in 1960, FCAB purchased this locomotive in 1988 from the former Canadian National Railway - Newfoundland (which operated on the island of Newfoundland from 1898 to 1988 and measured 1458 km). The locomotive FCAB 1403 is of the GR12U type and dates from 1961, it was produced directly for this carrier. FCAB 2404 is the youngest of the trio, it dates from 1964 and is a GT22CU-3 type (converted from a GR12) and was purchased from the railways of Colombia in 2005. locomotive closest to the picture) is ably assisted by Progress 3202 (type GT42AC). This locomotive is brand new, it was manufactured in 2018 by Progress rail and FCAB has 14 of these locomotives at its disposal (the locomotives have a 12-cylinder engine with the designation 12-710, the locomotive is 20.3 meters long, its maximum speed is 100 km/h h, and holds 5,000 liters of fuel, its weight is 120 tons, the traction power of the locomotive is stated to be 3,207 kW).

A man alone on the cliffs, a silhouette against the darkening sky, the waves crashing far below, their mournful roar rising like the echoes of forgotten grief, each tide a reminder of his sorrow.

Above, a seagull passed aimlessly, their shadow brushing the stone like fleeting memories, untouched by the weight of his sorrow.

The sea, infinite and unyielding, stretched endlessly before him, cold and indifferent, a reflection of the depth of his loneliness, the tide relentless in its rhythm, as if mocking his stillness.

He lingered there, eyes hollow, staring into the abyss, as though pleading for it to speak, to give meaning to the silence that consumed him, to the sorrow that the tide could never wash away.

Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) has been valued since ancient times for its great healing properties. It is a symbol of the true perseverance of nature. Dandelions are full of antioxidants and boosts immune system. Other benefits include weight loos, kills cancer cells, supports bile secretion, healthy digestion and fights constipation.

It's another changeable day today, we're hoping to do some butterfly transects this afternoon but we need a bit of sun . We'll see. I had a lovely meal last night with June, and had some orchids potted by her, so my collection is growing. Weights and measures is by Dry The River.

The children who were playing with soap bubbles left this one to float in the air. It kept growing until this monster of colour stopped floating and began to come back to earth due to it's own weight.

Sea lions are pinnipeds characterized by external ear flaps, long foreflippers, the ability to walk on all fours, short, thick hair, and a big chest and belly. Together with the fur seals, they comprise the family Otariidae, eared seals, which contains six extant and one extinct species (the Japanese sea lion) in five genera. Their range extends from the subarctic to tropical waters of the global ocean in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, with the notable exception of the northern Atlantic Ocean. They have an average lifespan of 20–30 years. A male California sea lion weighs on average about 300 kg (660 lb) and is about 2.4 m (8 ft) long, while the female sea lion weighs 100 kg (220 lb) and is 1.8 m (6 ft) long. The largest sea lion is Steller's sea lion, which can weigh 1,000 kg (2,200 lb) and grow to a length of 3.0 m (10 ft). Sea lions consume large quantities of food at a time and are known to eat about 5–8% of their body weight (about 6.8–15.9 kg (15–35 lb)) at a single feeding. Sea lions can move around 16 knots (30 km/h; 18 mph) in water and at their fastest they can reach a speed of about 30 knots (56 km/h; 35 mph). Three species, the Australian sea lion, the Galápagos sea lion and the New Zealand sea lion, are listed as endangered. 14674

Can greylag geese be white?

It can be white, completely gray (like the wild form), or somewhere in-between.

Are greylag geese native to UK?

There are two subspecies of Greylag Goose recognised: Western Greylag A. a. anser from Iceland, and north and central Europe; wintering from Scotland, south to northern Africa and east to Iran.

The greylag goose is a large, bulky, goose with a big head, and the largest of the grey goose species. It was one of the first species of animals to be domesticated in Ancient Egypt about 3000 years ago and is a typical farmyard goose. The domestic breed is known as A. a. domesticus and can interbreed with Anser anser. Many birds seen in the UK outside of the winter months are re-colonised from domestic populations and are often semi-tame. It is seen as a pest due to overgrazing of agricultural crops and is listed in Schedule 2 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act, meaning it can be killed or taken outside of the close season.

Key facts Scientific name: Anser anser

Status: Resident wild and feral populations, winter visitor.

I think as photographers we tend to be connoisseurs of light. Someone else might look out and see a cloudy day. But a photographer is bound to appreciate much more nuance in those clouds. Is it just a thin layer, producing 'cloudy bright' conditions on the ground? Or a thicker layer that allows light, but produces no distinct shadows. My mind frequently evaluates cloud and light conditions, even when I'm not actively engaged in shooting; often when I don't even have a camera with me. The process simply cannot be switched off. The cloud cover and resulting ambient light has a tremendous effect on the look and mood of photos, and if there's one thing I'm learning it's how to leverage this to shape visual stories; to tell them the way I want them told. One condition I love to work in is high density clouds. The ones that darken the sky to the point where there are no shadows at all. A leaden sky that sucks the life out of color and contrast out of photos and causes an oppressive feeling, both visually and even mentally. We've all sensed how differently we feel on a bright day compared to a dark one. Even if you're at work indoors, your spirit is likely to soar a bit more on a bright day. It's just human nature. There's still plenty of energy on a cloudy day, the trick is learning how to tap into it. The heaviness of the day was upon me as I wandered about the local cemetery and eventually gravitated toward this magnificent Gothic receiving vault. The masonry played perfectly into the visual concept of weight and obscurity. There was just enough clarity in the foreground to create a layered effect, as acuity drops off with distance in the fog. Half or more of the thrill for me in a situation like this is simply experiencing it. That coupled with the sort of intimacy I feel as I am invariably the only one present to witness these things. This exclusivity heightens awareness and my senses. I can't help but think that would be diluted in the presence of others.
