ESA’s Living Planet Symposium – one of the largest Earth observation conferences in the world – is being held on 23–27 May in Bonn, Germany. Held every three years, the symposium brings together scientists and researchers, as well as industry and users of Earth observation data, from all over the world to present and discuss the latest findings on Earth science.
Bonn is in the south of the Rhine-Ruhr region, Germany’s largest metropolitan area with over 11 million inhabitants.
The city has a total area of 141 sq km and 330 000 inhabitants. As the birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven, Bonn is devoted to the promotion of musical arts with the Beethovenhalle concert hall, a centre of the city’s musical life. Socially, Bonn is a very active city with many art galleries, gardens and a buzzing nightlife to offer.
Bonn is one of Germany’s top-ranked conference cities and is home to numerous international organisations and several United Nations institutions including the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The 1233 km-long Rhine River flows from the Swiss Alps to the North Sea through Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, France, Germany, and the Netherlands. In the image, it flows from bottom-right to top-left. Along the river lies one of the most modern congress centres in Europe: the World Conference Center Bonn. It is here where ESA’s Living Planet Symposium 2022 will take place.
Organised with the support of the German Aerospace Center, the week-long event focuses on how Earth observation contributes to both science and society. With over 240 scientific sessions on Earth observation science and satellite missions, there will also be a wide range of sessions focusing on advances in artificial intelligence, digital twins of Earth, commercial opportunities thanks to the space industry, the upcoming ESA Ministerial Council in 2022, and much more.
Selected sessions from the Living Planet Symposium will be streamed live from Bonn on ESA WebTV. The full programme is available at the Living Planet Symposium website.

It is to be noted that in 1939 just before the beginning of WWII, for obvious security reasons, the cupola (i.e. 3,125 glass panels) was removed and put into Printemps storehouse in Clichy (Paris northern suburb). The panels stayed there without any care during more than 30 years and suffered lots of damages. Their renovation was carried out in the seventies by Michel Brière (Eugène Brière's grand son). In 1973 the cupola regained its original place in Printemps Haussmann.

Kugy è stato un profondo conoscitore delle Alpi Giulie, ne descrisse le bellezze, le salite e i suoi bivacchi nel arrivare in cima.
Ho postato questa foto, scattata ultimamente, perchè ho avuto occasione di vedere un filmato della regione FVG che mi ha emozionato... è la ricostruzione della salita di Kugy al Montasio.
Dura mezz'oretta ma si può scaricare e guardare un altro momento, con calma!

Depuis les Beatles, Take That et les Backstreet Boys, chaque génération d’adolescent a droit à son boys band. Mis à part son côté déprimant, Tokio Hotel reprend tous les codes du secteur : 4 beaux jeunes garçons avec des styles marqués, un marketing bien huilé et des fans tonitruants.

All original White with Lagoon Blue paint, original transfers & decals and with perfect heavy British chrome. Reynolds 531 butted frame tubes and Bocama Lugs.
Weinmann 750 center-pull brake calipers. Brake levers have been changed from original Weinmann with white plastic "Carlton" hoods to a more recent Dia-Compe model with cutouts like the original, but a much more comfortable shape. Like the Weinmanns these also have a quick release feature. GB stem and Randonneur bend handlebar with white vinyl Hunt-Wilde bar tape.
Saddle is new-old-stock from the 1980s with a white suede cover on plastic and marked San Marco - similar to a Unicanitor. Pretty, but not comfortable.
A comfy ride with new Kenda 27 x 1.25" white wall tires mounted on the original Normandy/Weinmann wheelset with Simplex quick release skewers.
The Stronglight model 93 crankset (42 x 52) had the massive and heavy chainguard ring, but I removed it. Pedals are Lyotard #460. Rear derailleur is the correct Simplex Prestige, front is now a Huret 700 and the Simplex levers are the much better chromed steel rather than the plastic Prestige model. Freewheel is a 5-speed (14-28) "Atom" (Maillard).
New white cable housings and stainless steel cables. White plastic Silca Impero pump. Modern water bottle and bottle cage.
The silver colored SKS plastic P45 mudguards have just been added. Now I feel that I can ride anywhere on this bike without further messing up the already somewhat tattered paint. I'll remove the black plastic safety clips on the front mudguard stays before trimming them down to their final length.
This was a middle tier bike, the lowest of the Raleighs to offer Reynolds tubing. With high brake bridge clearance this was intended to use both the clincher tires and mudguards. It was intended as a comfortable riding high quality recreational Sport Touring bike - not a "racer", and might be compared to a lower range "International". Really a great riding bike thanks to the long wheelbase. And, I think the color combination is one of the nicest Raleigh or any one has ever come up with.
