I listen to GrooveSalad almost every day while working so I thought I'd come up with a re-design of SomaFM's homepage for fun.
I focused more on explaining who they were and asking for support since they are supported only by their fans. For the stations, I showcased the album/artist that was currently playing, which would change song to song to give the site some life.
The red buttons are eye-catching calls to action: Join now, Send our newest greetings!, reply >> and Holiday recipes
A sketch that my client did'nt like that much. I kinda agree. In the end, the other idea got better.
