Thought I needed to add a ginger haired lady. This did not have the diffusion paper in front of the gridded reflector.

Chin up, chin up
Everybody loves a happy face
Wear it, share it
It'll brighten up the darkest place
Twinkle, sparkle
Let a little sunshine in
You'll be on the right side, looking at the bright side
Up with your chinny-chin-chin.

"Experimental" close up shot--not a macro--using a manual focus 50mm f/1.2 lens almost wide open to give such a shallow depth of field that only the plane of the spider web is in focus. Took several tries to get right but I finally nailed it...the outer parts of the photo are soft because the SMC Pentax-A lens used here is soft wide open.
Shot with an SMC Pentax-A 50mm f/1.2 manual focus lens.
Fri. the 19th and Triple-Digit Temps today. So even 9:30am is 85 and in a hurry back to the Cave so only a dozen clicks for the day.
The 10th year of Arachtober is almost here! I am very excited to see everyone's posts and figure out my own. Looking through some of the spiders I shot since last Arachtober reminded me of lots of spiders I forgot I shot. I always think I will choose some ahead of time, but it never happens.
This was shot at the butterfly park, I keep looking for a spider in this and similar webs. Have yet to find one this year.

Pretty sure this is the entrance to the web of our big Wolf spider. The big guy that shows up each night on the brick wall is one scary dude.
This is a giant spider web that was outside my window. Shot with a Sigma 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 on a Canon 7D at ISO 100. HDR created with Photomatix Pro 4. A little bit of ghosting, but still really cool!
Autumn is drawing in and that brings the Spiders out into there webs. I love the combination of these lovely creatures and the bokeh mixed with their webs
Most days I'm a huge fan of spiders, but lately, spiders have invaded my personal spaces. First, there was the creepy spider baby invasion on my hanging ivy. Last night, a gargantuan grass spider was in the bedroom; it was so big, we thought we had seen a mouse scampering along the wall. Tonight, a black jumping spider crawled out of the crevices of the couch to jump on my squealing daughter. This photo shows the glorious workings of another bulbous monster who has laid his giant web on my sacred back porch. As soon as I came around with the camera, she scampered up from the web's center and hid in the shadows. I'd like to live peacefully alongside, at a slightly greater distance, happily photographing their wondrous arachnidity, but these guys are making things hard. 8:36PM
