The genus name Begonia was coined by Charles Plumier, a French patron of botany, and adopted by Linnaeus in 1753, to honor Michel Bégon, a former governor of the French colony of Saint-Domingue (now Haiti).
For Macro Mondays - Wavy Lines
Two leaves on our Pittosporum Tree. The leaves measure around 65 mm (~2 1/2 inches)
Thankfully we had a little bit of sunshine this morning so I was able to use the light the way I wanted.
Happy Macro Monday!
Annuals now planted after Victoria Day - supposedly beginning of frost free nights, but we shall see.
Photo taken for the Macro Mondays theme “Wavy Lines”. The wavy lines are created by sunlight shining through window blinds onto a sheer curtain.
A small section of a whirling hemisphere in front of a packing plate with holes.
After I had photographed all sorts of things, I remembered my small scent dispenser made of twirl wood. It has an infinite number of curves, which fits the theme. As a background I have a cardboard panel, it was in a package to protect delicate goods. I didn't throw it away because I thought it would make a good background for a photo.
Dear friends, thank you very much for your visit, get well through this time of crisis.
Thank you for a star and a comment.

Last minute idea and I had it in my hand, a water bottle. I used a colorful paper for the background. Please, recycle ♻ them!
For Macro Mondays: "Wavy Lines"
Thank you very much for your kind comments and visit, much appreciated!
The Macro Mondays theme for 7/18 is wavy lines, so this is one of my three possibilities - the petals of a tulip votive holder.
.....Will post the size verification picture in a bit- this cropped portion of the candle holder is about an inch and a half.

...with mostly bokeh bling! I love bokeh, I admit apologetically. And with lights covered by yellow-gold transparent paper and this Laowa lens focusing so closely and magnifying the tiny wavy lines, these bokeh balls just sort of happen ;-)
Laowa 60mm f/2.8 2x macro lens. About 2inches/.5cm width of frame.
About f/4 aperture.
Plus, it is raining! Yippee!
"How much better is silence; the coffee cup, the table. How much better to sit by myself like the solitary sea-bird that opens its wings on the stake. Let me sit here for ever with bare things, this coffee cup, this knife, this fork, things in themselves, myself being myself."
— Virginia Woolf (The Waves)
I have taken so many photos of natural shades of green since this challenge was announced. We've had lots of rain so moss and everything else is lush & green. This one is still my favourite.

Macro Mondays: Wavy Lines
Portwine Magnolia leaf
Macro Monday
Theme: Wavy Lines
Size:Less than 3x3 inches
The subject is a dress making measuring tape on its side.
I placed the tape on a glass petri dish and tip it at an angle.
I then placed a LED torch light under the Petri dish which is secured by " blue tack "
I placed a yellow cloth beneath the dish on the left side and a bluish plastic bag on the right for the background colours.
The other light source is natural light at 4 o'clock.
Many thanks for your visit, comments and faves...it is always appreciated.

My attempt at the "Macro Mondays" theme "Wavy Lines".
This shows around 9 mm (or 1/3 of an inch) of a mesh strainer.
