The Wadden Sea of the North Sea is a tidal area, about 11,500 km² in size, about 500 km long and up to 40 km wide between Skallingen, Denmark, in the north-east and Den Helder, Netherlands, in the south-west. The bottom of the North Sea that is exposed at low tide is called mud flats. It is the largest wadden sea in the world.
Die Weißwangengans oder Nonnengans (Branta leucopsis) ist eine Art der Gattung Meergänse (Branta) in der Familie der Entenvögel (Anatidae). Sie wird nicht in Unterarten, jedoch in drei getrennte Populationen aufgeteilt. Der Verein Jordsand hat diese Vogelart zum Seevogel des Jahres 2021 gekürt.
