Young swan. Doing some maintenance and cleaning. The feathers should become waterresistant.

Paper: 30 cm Elephant Hide, painted with oil pastels
Grid: 32 Squares with all diagonals
Model: Shuzo Fujimoto (Clover Folding, Hydrangea), John McKeever (Escher Steps), Elke Brauer (variations of Clover folding), Robin Scholz (this variant)
I always like the clover folding variant by Elke Brauer and Robin Scholz and did a few smaller ones myself, most of which I have given away. Making a larger one, was on my ToDo ever since. I made a test piece, to ensure that rotation of the molecule by 45° gives a nice alignment with the edge (totally unnecessary, because Robin did that before, I just forgot).
Colouring was done after precreasing, to have the colour gradiant matching the molecules. Oil pastels are my new favorite, for they are nice to blend, do not need water and are waterresistant, so I could dampen and flatten the final model.
Nothing to say about the folding process, but fun, fun, fun. And I even got used to the Escher-Stepish inverting of the "scales".
It's the complete set! And like new!
Original case, straps, film container and the big underwater viewfinder.

I handprinted owls stickers on different materials. I am so pleased how it turned out.
I made a bagful of 8 multicolored stickers with different materials. now in my shop :)
30 second exposure showing the glowing triangle lume of the second hand traversing the watch face.
Shot for #FlickrFriday #Timing theme.
Lens
EPS-SCENE MACHINE Macro 30-70mm f2.5
As this is a fully manual lens, the EXIF data about aperture and focal length is incorrect. It was actually shot at 70mm and f11.
Lighting
I shined a flashlight on the watch face for about 30 seconds to charge the lume. For the actual exposure, also 30 seconds, the only illumination was the ambient light in a fairly dark room and the watch lume.
Note: I'm starting to wonder if the 30 second exposure setting is actually keeping the shutter open for 30 seconds. That looks like 35 seconds to me.
Prototype to keep rain off my iPhone 3GS. I plan to use a slightly taller bottle. See my blog for additional information. Photo by jalexartis.

An old Bulova with a gold and stainless theme. The background is a gift bag that my wife bought last year but never used.
Earlier this month I bought the Fujinon XF 50mm F2 R WR lens.I love my 35mm Fujinon lens but I wanted a slightly more reach. I debated buying the 56mm but I decided that this lens fit my shooting style better.
I tested the 50mm out during the Dallas Marathon and Half Marathon earlier this month. The lens blew me away. I was getting about 3 times more hits than I usually get with the 35mm. I am not sure why but I was happy. Last year, I shot the same race, in the same spot, and with identical bright light. So, I think it was a valid comparison.
I usually get one useable photo out of every two sets of bursts. That would work out to one usable photo out of every six to eight photos taken. I was getting more like a 90% hit rate with the 50mm. That should greatly speed up my editing time in the future since I won't have to take as many shots.
In January, we have our big marathon here in Houston. On a Saturday we have 5,000+ people run by in a 5K. On Sunday we have 27,000 run the marathon and half marathon. It is about a two minute walk to the course from my apartment. However, I like to take photos near the end of the races so that everyone is spread out and a little more "photogenic".
