Old water pump, an old pear tree and a snail. You can still pump some water but it is yellowish and not drinkable.
The Shiloh Baptist Church caught my eye as we passed it on our way to West Virginia and I just had to take a picture. Millwood is a quaint town just East of Fort Royal.
same kind of bike as in a few posts before. Must be a local habit to change your bike into a mossy object. Never seen water pumps like this one but in this area

This scene has remained the same for decades now but reminds us of farming in a simpler time. A time when a bigger farm was 4 sections(320 acres). Now, a farmer can't survive on that small a farm. The times, they are a changin'...HSS Everyone!
But shame on them for not replacing old glory! Outside Brookville,IL.,which like the flag,has seen better days...

An old windmill bakes under a blazing sun T the Living History Antique Farm Show near Franklin Grove, IL. The real feel temperatures that day ran about 105° that afternoon.

This is an other picture from the Dahlia with a wide angle lens. Wonderful how the sun molts into drops.
Definitely a more "modern" style windmill that was actually advertised as being more aerodynamic and efficient. Puts the modern wind turbines to shame,more esthetically pleasing for sure....

Old windmill near Hurstville,IA. which was real popular with the local sparrow population.This was surprising,considering the 2 labs barking at the top of their lungs at my feet...

Jízda s brejlovci se uskutečnila v rámci fotoakce pro fotografy, zvláštní nákladní vlaky projely velkou část Českého Ráje a také jak sníměk napovídá zavítali do Podkrkonoší.

A very wet and stormy day, no filters used. The ruins of abandoned tin mines are found throughout the west of Cornwall, a legacy of when Tin mines were one of the main economies of the West Country. Tin prices fell and cheaper tin was imported from abroad. Many of these mines stretched far under the sea bed and were constantly having to be pumped out, hence the pump houses that remain abandoned above ground. Miners worked in these mines by candlelight and soaked to the skin. Without the background to this mine I am not sure if it was a Thomas Newcomen steam engine or one of Richard Trevithick?
I'm sure when this old windmill was pumping water,such a scene would have been almost frightening.Some would say the speed of progress and the way things we are comfortable with lose their relevance is equally frightening...

This is an old pump in an abandoned pumping station at Jarrahdale. It was hard to photograph as the building is boarded up with limited light and points to poke the lens through.
I cannot find any more information on it. The pumping station is at the eastern end of The Wattle Trail.

The back 40 is growing a new crop these days on this old farmstead along Route 23 south of DeKalb,IL.This is becoming a popular scene in parts of the Midwest,but in this windfarm they are in rows,which is almost a little scary...

This old Eclipse windmill is standing tall as a Midwestern storm approaches its location on the Schwartz Farm near Hannibal,MO. There were at least a dozen old windmills on display,all in working order.Have a great windmill Wednesday everyone!

The frost was still in the ground on this cold early April day though it was going to warm up to near 70 degrees. These old windmills sitting in the middle of country fields alone always intrigue me.Was there a farm around it? Did it used to be a pasture,since cleared for crops?

Cropton is a village and civil parish in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, England some 3 miles north-west of Pickering.
Cropton is located at the edge of the Tabular Hills, with a road descending off the escarpment and down into Rosedale as per the photo. Traditional stone houses and cottages line a broad main street that leads towards the church, but Cropton is even older than it looks – with a history dating back at least 2,000 years
