Wasn't much of that about today was there?!
I do loads of versions of each photo - this was my previous upload
If it wasn't for the evil thorns I would love, love, love these plants (wild blackberries). But alas they have cat-claw sharp and plentiful thorns that refuse to let me and my clothing go if they get any chance to grab hold.
However the berries are absolutely delicious and worth the risk. They rarely make it inside because I am a berry fiend ... but when they do and a smoothie is made the brilliant purple colour is outstanding and a 'wow' is often heard rolling off my tongue.
I wasn't planning on sharing anything today. I wanted to wait until after my first roll of black and white film was finished being developed but that won't be for awhile cause everything is taking longer, now a days. So I still have a couple of images worth sharing from my last day of shooting. Have a wonderful weekend my friends!
(I was using my 40mm NIKKOR lens along with a 12mm extension tube. I added a pale gray filter to soften the image)
I wasn't sure about posting this one. I really like the mood but wasn't convinced of its artistic merit. Anyway, here it is. If I don't get 1000+ faves by midnight tomorrow I'll count it a failure and I'll take it down :)
“It wasn’t long after that when I went into the quiet blue, that place without time, where I could soak up all the juices of life and let them run through me like a river.”
― Susan Abulhawa, The Blue Between Sky and Water
I wasn't sure I would get anything on this night as there was a thick set of horizon clouds. As the sun fell below the mountains, my patience was rewarded.
The Great Salt Lake - GPS is not the exact spot of the shot.
This wasn't the road to get into the park, but a road within the park leading up to one of the many hiking locations. One thing that was different with Capitol Reef National Park was as we were driving in I was expecting to see the National Park gates to collect our entrance fee.
This park as we driving in we saw the NP sign but no entrance booth with cars waiting to enter. I'm not sure if it's because it's a lessor popular park or not. Either way, it was a fun park to visit. Since we were going to so many parks during that week, we decided to purchase the $80 annual pass.
I'm not sure what or if there is a name to the rock formations in the background. Please leave a comment if you know.
Who put the blot on the trail? The cow acts innocent... I guess we'll never find out 😉 Hiking companion seen on a hike near Hafling. Have a happy Tuesday everybody ☀️😄

GARDEN AND PARKS is the topic for Saturday, November 19th Group Our Daily Challenge
I wasn't for sure if I should share this one because it's so similar from the past image. I just changed the tones and didn't frame it. But, I really liked it and wanted your opinion on which one you liked most.
This wasn't the right day for long exposures, but the light was dull and the clouds were moving quite ok. So I had to try. The problem was the never ending showers of rain and sleet. This one came out ok, despite wiping the filter all the time.
Really wasn't warm the morning I took this shot. But the lighting was pretty and had beautiful clouds, just the way I like them. This beautiful winter landscape was taken in our small town of St-Ephrem de Beauce, Quebec.
I wasn't really expecting an awful lot, on our short trip down to North Sands the other night .Sometimes you get surprises!!!!!
This is one of the captures I came away with. A LE to create some movement in those clouds, which were tinged with pink as the sun set to the rear.
This part of the pier has been set adrift, as a central part of the pier was removed.
Have been wanting to do a shot for ages for this amazing quote from Salinger's 'A Girl I Knew' - and thanks to my beautiful and very patient friend *Skaya*, I finally got it done! Thank you, hope I did you justice ❤️
I wasn't going to post this until I had seen Mike Crowle post a Five-spotted Burnet Moth www.flickr.com/photos/mcrowle/53024485947/in/feed-2872474...
It wasn't just the stars my friend here was gazing at this night. The auroras made a faint but nice display in front of the Milky way, and just below the green band of auroras in the middle of this picture you can see the Andromeda galaxy.
I wasn't aware that a geomagnetic storm was in progress, was walking home from a friend's house at 6 pm and was surprised to see the Northern Lights at that time.
After dinner, I drove down to the golf course and took a series of photos. The light on the trees and snow in the foreground is from lights at an outdoor skating rink, so that was a bonus.
...already Halloween?

#Stone
This wasn't on purpose, believe me ;) It was just another one of these difficult "free" themes that I didn't want to skip because I am a stone/mineral collector of sorts (I have been fascinated with minerals, rocks, and stones since childhood), and I have so many of them (some of which I've already photographed for MMs ruled out for this theme, of course) that, once again, I was overwhelmed. I had a few ideas which I couldn't get right the way I had envisioned, but late yesterday evening I thought "One last try!", and picked the dullest and at the same time weirdest-looking mineral that is in my collection. Unfortunately, I have forgotten the name of this specific mineral, and last night's research yielded no results. I can best describe its smooth, tumble-polished pattern as reminiscent of giraffe skin, oddly shaped greyish-brown opaque shapes segmented by semi-translucent white/light-grey, quartz-like "lines" that look like a net or mesh of river branches washing around the greyish-brown "islands". The closest type of mineral I found was septarium, so maybe that's it, but I'm not sure at all. I think, however, if you zoom in, you can see that it really is a tumbled gemstone and not some oddly-shaped Halloween pumpkin accessory ;)
So yesterday evening, when it already was completely dark outside, a miracle happened. I knew that the white "rivers" were a little translucent, but when I had backlit the stone in daylight, the effect wasn't particularly impressive. But in the darkness, with only a single small light source in the entire room, the rivers started to glow which totally transformed the dull-looking mineral into something almost alive. Hooray :) Maybe I should have done focus stacking instead of taking several single shots, turning the stone around to find its most "attractive" side (this weird-looking pumpkin face, obviously), but I think there's enough sharpness here, and the blurry parts add a somewhat molten look which, for me, enhances the impression of a red hot glow.
The orange-yellow glow is from the LED flashlight that I had placed directly behind the stone (the streak of blue behind the stone is also from the flashlight). I enhanced the saturation and overall vibrancy with the primary color sliders in LR, and in Color Efex, I used a few "Detail Enhancer" control points to bring out the texture. Size of the "maybe septarium, definitely pumpkin face": approximately 3x3 cm / 1,18x1,18 inches.
HMM, Everyone, and have a great week ahead!
with the fox more noticeable recently, I wasn't surprised to find this turkey off the ground
thank you for your visits!
Wasn't expecting to find a discarded 'Freedom Trail' chair at West Kirby this morning.
I might've moved it, okay I did move it and probably not to the best place composition wise.
Anyway, I'm now the proud owner of a Go Outdoors own brand collapsible chair:)
Finders Keepers and all that.
I wasn’t sure about the distortion of this object in the picture. This prevented me from posting it although I liked the picture a lot. But what if this distortion is just a part of the story of this pictures? So here we are....

I wasn't going to upload another shot from that flowery set, but as I had some time to kill, I started playing around with them and ended up with this one... I loved how it turned out and thought I'd share ;D
Big smiles everyone :)))

Charleroi.

Charleroi. I grew up there until I was 12 and go back regularly.
In 2008, the Dutch magazine Volkskrant designated Charleroi as the ugliest city in the world. Since then, the city center has undergone transformations but... Rome wasn't built in a day 😄. The successive crises over the past few years have further lowered the standard of living of the inhabitants. It is said to be the Walloon capital of poverty, which is what I am illustrating here, but it is also the capital of resourcefulness and mutual aid, a vibrant cosmopolitan city open to all new forms of art.

There wasn't much blue sky at West WIttering when we arrived but the interesting clouds made up for it and there was the odd glimmer of sun to be seen. Might be worth a look in large if you have the time.

===It wasn't easy I know
Some of those nights it probably seemed impossible
But I've been falling in love with you everyday
Every time the sun comes up
I turn back around
I'm climbing all the walls that I built
To keep you out
And all the bridges you, you tried to burn
Have all fallen down
It's you and me now
Next to you I want to lie
On your shoulder when I need to cry
I'm so happy that you came
To ease the darkness and ease the pain
And I've been falling in love with you
Falling in love with you
Falling in love with you
Falling in love, falling in love
With you everyday===
This wasn't quite my subject, so I probably haven't put as much effort into it as I should have. I took a tea light through a plastic folder - on my phone as it was just that much easier.
This was on the day I visited the Park at Gleisdreieck, which is an amazing place and as I have probably said before, it's an absolute treasure trove of photo opportunities everywhere you look in every genre you can imagine! As I let slip there, this wasn't at midnight but with the Aperture set higher for sharpness and the Shutter Speed to 1/500 this sufficiently darkened the image and with the additional WB "Incandescent" gave a beautiful nighttime cinematic feel.
I used the Nikkor 55-200mm VR1 for this shit with the VR activated. I hope you like it!
So that's Monday gone for today, I hope everyone is well, and so as always, thank you! :)
PS: Zoom in ;)
Today I wasn't sure where I wanted to take photos. I contemplated several areas along the parkway, but eventually settled on a waterfall on the backside of Devils Courthouse. The hike all the way down was easy...right up until the last tenth of a mile, dropping down the side of a ridge, very steep, and not at all friendly. I climbed down, steep stairs and setup my camera along a huge fallen tree. I tried several focal lengths, and framing, finally I settled on this composition. I was originally going to shoot this at 1/10th of a second but wanted to experiment a bit more. So here it is.

I wasn't going to take part today as I had no spiders in the house. I wasn't going to let one in nor did I want to buy an artificial spider. And then I passed a building site and saw this. You just never know what might pop up, just at the right time.
I wasn't intending to stop off for any photography today as it's really busy at work but I had to take a few shots of the Priory as I passed it on my way to work to admire the sky.

I wasn't going to post anymore of these but several of you asked for more and, it's not like I don't have more..;) This was a fun event. I'm pretty sure I'll volunteer for it again next year. Plus, it's always fun to go to the coast.
For those who asked, my new job is Verizon's fraud division.
I wasn't expecting to see a flower like this when I wandered through a friend's vegetable garden. Tucked in every corner of the space, bright bursts of color could be seen. Upon closer inspection I made my first ever encounter with such a vibrant poppy. Sometimes flowers can take my breath away.
Wasn't sure if the lens flare added to the image or not but I was reasonably pleased with the final edited image.
It wasn’t until I started going through my ties to choose one to wear for an event a few days ago that I realised just how many feature a dot of some sort. Geometrical shapes featured heavily with parallel lines and circles in the majority! So this is just an interesting trio incorporating dots in the design.

The replica U.S. Brig Niagara is a museum ship and sail training vessel located in Erie, Pennsylvania at the Erie Maritime Museum. She is a replica of the original US Brig Niagara, a brig which played a pivotal role in the Battle of Lake Erie and the victory of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry during the War of 1812. ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/US_Brig_Niagara_(replica) )
It wasn't until I got home and downloaded the images that I noticed the weird eyes, nose and goofy teeth on the boat. Its quite freaky as I didn't notice them all the time I was there. Nowt as strange as those boat people, I wonder if the owner has noticed. Did you or is it just me?
