A wonderful starting point is the reservoir (1,850m) to hike from here to the Plauener Hütte (2,363m) and then on towards the Zillerplattenscharte (2,880m). Always have a view of the reservoir from above. And then you come back in this long valley at the end of the lake.

Hiking in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains is always something extraordinary.
And that's still true, even if you don't climb to the rocky peaks and enjoy those breathtaking views (in any direction).
Even in the forests below the peaks, you often feel like you're in a fairytale world. However, this is less true for the areas affected by bark beetles and forest fires. Here, it sometimes feels like a post-apocalyptic disaster movie.
But thankfully, there are also many areas like this one, which, by the way, is located below mount Winterberg. And the other regions have already begun to recover (it will just take some time).
Das Wandern im Elbsandsteingebirge ist immer etwas Außergewöhnliches.
Und das gilt immernoch, auch wenn mann nicht auf die Felsengipfel steigt und sich diese wunderschönen Aussichten (egal in welche Richtung) vor Dir ausbreiten.
Auch in den Wäldern unterhalb der Gipfel fühlt man sich oft wie in einer Märchenwelt. Allerdings gilt des weniger für die Bereiche, die von Borkenkäfer und Waldbrand betroffen waren. Hier fühlt es sich manchmal an, wie in einem Endzeit Katastrophenfilm.
Doch zum Glück gibt es auch viele Gegenden wie diese hier, die sich übrigens unterhalb des Winterberges befindet. Und die anderen Regionen haben auch schon begonnen sich zu regenerieren (das wird eben nur ne Weile dauern).
