The blues of the world's oceans may vary in intensity. One thing they do have in common is their beauty, which may be magnified by the reflection of the sun and the movement of waves.
When we were in the small village of Carthage, Missouri last week, we could not help but notice the lively conversation between these city fathers in front of the coffee shop, on the courthouse square. . .

The world's first steam powered clock has been created for the enjoyment of everyone. The live steam winds the weights and blows the whistles. Every 4.5 minutes one steel weight will travel by steam power to the top of the clock. The gravity driven "falling ball" drive was 'engineered' by Douglas L. Smith. Each quarter hour the clock will sound the Westminster Chimes. The large whistle will sound once on the hour. The steam is supplied by the underground system of Central Heat Distributor's Limited. The component parts cost $42,000 and the clock weighs over two tons.
For photographers, a visit to New Zealand would not be complete without a "pilgrimage" to see That Wanaka Tree on Lake Wanaka. Taken during the mid-day sun, this wasn't really a great and sharp pic of it but I was happy to have finally seen the tree. I had planned to return to the spot for sunset that day. However, the sky didn't look too promising, so I drove to Glendhu Bay instead to see more of Lake Wanaka before returning to Queenstown that evening.

All The World's Alive Again
The rabbit hops its gentle step
The lark sings lyric songs
All the world's alive again
Spring rights the winter wrongs.
Mother hen protects her chicks
White blossoms are in bloom
All the world's alive again
No snowy clouds to loom.
A kitten chirps her tiny mew
The child blinks his eyes
All the world's alive again
A new world crystalized.

Singapore Botanic Gardens are an oasis of natural beauty and tranquility in a highly urbanized city. The Gardens were established in 1859, and retain the same layout and historical buildings until today.
The Gardens are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and are a global center for plant research, development, and conservation. This was a key institution involved with the introduction of rubber trees in South East Asia, which became a major cash crop for the region.
The greening of Singapore is a direct result of the Gardens' efforts, which devoted their expertise and resources to transform Singapore into the Garden City that it has now become.
The National Orchid Garden has the world's largest display of orchids, and is part of Singapore Botanical Gardens' orchid breeding program, with a repository of one thousand species and two thousand hybrids.

It’s estimated that 20 per cent of the oxygen we breathe comes from rainforests in the Amazon basin.
After a marginal decline in the rate of destruction of the forest between 2004 and 2012, Brazil witnessed a 92 percent rise in deforestation since Jair Bolsonaro became the President of Brazil in January 2019, the Time Magazine reported.
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️
The Very Long Baseline Array is a network of ten observing stations located across the United States. Each station consists of a 25-meter radio antenna dish and a control building. Radio signals captured by each antenna are amplified, digitized and recorded. The recorded data are then sent to Socorro, NM to be processed by a powerful computer known as a correlator. By combining their data, the stations form one of the world’s most powerful radio cameras.

One of my attempts at the "Smile on Saturday" theme "La vie en rose".
Also a little testshot for the Macro Mondays theme "My Closest" where the goal is to get as close as possible... This isn't that of course (the little pearl has a length of around 10 mm, so this is probably a 3.5:1 magnification) but way over the limit for this lens. It might not look very impressive, but I find it quite remarkable what it is able to do because I'd consider this way out of its optimum range. I have to admit I don‘t know these things too well… so if I‘m wrong on that, please correct me!

A few years ago the clock was refit and is not entirely steam powered. It also has three small electric motors to help operate two internal fans, one of which blows the steam out the top, and another that controls the valves that play the tunes on the five steam whistles mounted atop the clock case.
The large central whistle, which was taken off the CPR steam tug Naramata, counts off the full hours while the four auxiliary whistles chime the Westminster Quarters every quarter hour. The number of chimes matches the number of quarter hours that have passed.

Baboons are some of the world’s largest monkeys. The baboon, like other Old World monkeys, does not have a prehensile (gripping) tail, but it is still able to climb when necessary.
All baboons have dog–like noses, powerful jaws, sharp canine teeth, and thick fur. The male baboon also has a ruff—a longer mane around its neck.
The Chacma Baboon (Papio ursinus), also known as the Cape baboon, is, like all other baboons, from the Old World monkey family.
The Chacma Baboon is perhaps the longest species of monkey, with a male body length of 20–45 in (50–115 cm) and tail length of 18–33 in (45–84 cm). It also one of the heaviest; the male weighs from 46–99 lb (21–45 kg) with an average of 70 lb (31.8 kg). The smaller female Chacma weighs from 26–55 lb (12–25 kg), with an average of 34 lb (15.4 kg).
The chacma baboon is omnivorous with a preference for fruits, while also eating insects, seeds, grass, smaller vertebrate animals, and fungi (the desert truffle Kalaharituber pfeilii). Located primarily in southern Africa, the chacma baboon has a wide variety of social behaviors, including a dominance hierarchy, collective foraging, adoption of young by females, and friendship pairings.

Here’s my story about Casey, Illinois:
Whilst zooming along Interstate 70 @ about 80 MPH, pushing hard to get to Terre Haute where my room awaited me, I passed the turnoff for the town of Casey. That in and of itself would not be of note, however out of the corner of my eye, I spy (go ahead, say it three times fast) a billboard that had a number of squares on it, each saying something about the world’s largest something or other. The only one I actually absorbed among the claims, was “world’s largest wind chime.” I started to dwell on the wonder of such a thing, but being interstate one can’t just flip a U turn. Knowing that this was most likely going to be some cheesy attempt to draw people in off the Interstate, I still felt the need to see this wind chime of alleged humongous proportions. So, some four or five miles later I was able to make an exit, and then reverse course. Much to my surprise, the town was extraordinarily neat, clean and full of wonder. Besides showing a whimsical imagination, they exercised their fun concepts with extreme craftsmanship and real pride. The streets were neat and clean, with great landscaping. I did not photograph the entire collection, but did many of them, as well as a beautiful old house and a rusty crusty sign, and the previously posted Casey Bank wall sign.
This juvenile was enjoying the remains of a dead fish on Bronte Beach in Oakville, Ontario. This species is the world's largest gull. Here, on Lake Ontario, they are primarily a winter bird; they migrate up the St. Lawrence River from the east coast.
Ruby Falls-Chattanooga, Tennessee. My favorite underground waterfall is the world's tallest and deepest fall, located inside Lookout Mountain. It's a perfect place to capture the natural beauty of the fall. You reach it by taking an elevator 260 feet down into Lookout Mountain and spending an hour walking along the cave path, with all the magnificent formations and natural splendor to see. Near the end of the cave is the roaring water of the great Ruby Falls, which is 145 feet high, and about 1120 feet underground.
