I passed three train crossings on the way to work. I spend twenty minutes a day while waiting for a train to cross them. I decided to use this time to take the pictures of them:)

on the way to the williwags...

On my way to work there are some maple trees and I love the colours of the foliage in the autumn. During the last days it was wonderful to walk over the fallen leaves. It was really a pleasure for me and my heart to listen to the sound and look at their gorgeous golden and red color tones. I can't help taking a photo from this nature fall carpet. Hope you enjoy it.

Acer is a genus of trees or shrubs commonly known as Maple.

There are approximately 125 species, most of which are native to Asia, with a number also appearing in Europe, northern Africa, and North America.

The word Acer is derived from a Latin word meaning "sharp", referring to the characteristic points on maple leaves. It was first applied to the genus by the French botanist Joseph Pitton de Tournefort in 1700. A red maple leaf is the prominent feature of the flag of Canada.

Alas, the sun doesn't always shine in Edinburgh. Here a lonesome figure disappears into the haar [sea fog] rolling in from the sea as twilight descends on the city.

Sometimes you just have to shoot what ever is available on your way to work.......

This outfall groin and marker are easily accessible from my journey to work, the sky was looking good so I had to stop, take a shot, and I still made it to work on time :-)

Litter guards? Tower Gardens, York along the River Ouse

I was impressed this week by the fantastic portfolio of Vincent Laforet (http://www.laforetvisuals.com/main.php ), especially his work where the subject looks like a miniature. For example some of the shots in his "CN Portfolio - Commuters" series.

So I thought I'd explore the approach with one of my recent shots. It seems a simple enough idea - just apply Gaussian Blur in increasing intensities across multiple layers receding from the focal plane. PP X3 lacks the Lens Blur filter in PS, so the effect is not quite as convincing, but I like it anyway!

All that's lacking is a human hand placing the bales like they were cotton balls.

The miniature effect is much stronger when viewed Large On Black

HDR with 3 shots +/- 1stop. Handheld. My first HDR outside the test bench!

5 Shot HDR (exposures from ½s to 8s). Straightened and tidied in Photopaint. See also the single frame version flickr.com/photos/claustral/2211018435/

The halo is due to ice crystals in the upper atmosphere. It was around freezing point in the cemetery at midnight when I took the shot.

on my way to work... and this mornng the sky was exceptionally beautiful.

What a poser! Swan is kind enough to go right past the old boathouse on the Union Canal where it passes through Edinburgh near my home, just as I was trying to get a shot of the boathouse and reflection (a favourite subject of any photographer walking along this stretch of canal by Harrison Park)

The end of the cherry blossom season is amazing in this little park in Southern Sweden. It snowed blossom each time a gust of wind came through.

5 shot HDR. 2023 remaster.

A family out for an evening walk on Boxing Day as creeping dusk provides very atmospheric light

I was photographing the Wood Anemone when this little fellow flew into the shot. I was just able to get the focus right and start shooting as he started to take off. It is somewhat cropped since the Tamron is not a real macro lens.

2021 remaster uses DxO DeepPrime NR and Topaz AI Sharpen to make this heavily cropped image pop rather more.

Stopped on the way to work a few weeks back and this was the view. I'm in two minds about the rubbish and the power lines, why to landscapes have to look like they were taken 200 years ago?

7 shot HDR.

My friend Eva Sjöberg has painted this scene too. See a comment below for the link.

The Haar (sea fog) creeping in on the Meadows

Edinburgh, Scotland

(3 February, 9.30am)

On my way home at Frankfurt Main Station, a moment, just a moment of the continual coming and going of trains and passengers. People catching their trains to go home and the reflection of the setting sun behind them...

Well, I have to admit, this photo is not purely black and white. I did not remove the saturation at all. But the expression it transmits and the scene is like a black and white photo.

RAW-processed and adjusted with Bibble.
