I don't know why, but this shot makes me think of a jellyfish, lost and floating in the deep ocean. But it is only a chandelier .... in the same room of the red velvet chairs you saw some photos ago.

This is my Cheers. Not everybody knows my name, but those who are important, the bartenders, do. Even on a busy Saturday night I can count on my drink bring delivered, and I’ll get some conversation when things slow down.

Once again, trying to get a shot of the refinery with all the steam and snow, and failing.

Meh.

Well, yes!!! Processing this image was really difficult for me!

We are in the "Serpens Tail" constellation, between the constellations Scutum and Ophiuchus, near the galactic equator. It is an area rich in dense dark nebulae and dust that are part of the "Aquila Rift" and within them a vast HII star-forming region. This nebula is cataloged as LBN90, "Sh2-64", RCW174, and "Westerhout 40" or W40. It is about 1420 light years from Earth and is difficult to observe because it is obscured by the dense interstellar dark clouds surrounding it.

In search of a new target, I stumbled upon this faint nebula by chance, but I was intrigued by the contrast between star-rich areas and very dark areas. I then began integrating the first few hours of exposure and, to my surprise, noticed the presence of faint, brighter nebulosity standing out against the star clouds and dark clouds. Curious, I searched the web for confirmation, which I promptly found, but the best results were obtained from sites with very dark skies, such as Bortle 2 or even Namibia. From my Bortle 5-6 sky, these faint clouds were ruined by the gradients and appeared quite noisy. What to do? I decided to challenge these difficulties by integrating as much as possible, reaching almost 43 hours.

And so I managed to achieve a decent result, despite the problems caused by the gradients from light pollution and the difficulty in managing the glare of some stars, such as star 60Ser.

The challenge was tough, but the satisfaction in the end was not lacking.
