Throwback to Tower still running the W14, the Leyton end of the route being close to depot.

I mean, it's just E200s now - no more Nimbuses that it had in early days upon TT takeover, let alone all the Pointers, Cadets and lovely ALX200s that Arriva chucked on it when I started secondary school.

Another route subject to consultation - and if those proposals come to fruition, the route will become severely limited operation, no longer going ASDA or Woodford Bridge, but will end up in Essex instead. Hourly though? Erm...

DML44075 is seen standing at Leyton ASDA by Lea Interchange (LI) garage, waiting to go back out on the W14 to Woodford Bridge.

This bus, along with the route, have since passed to Stagecoach after they bought out LI and its routes at the end of June. This bus was renumbered to 37553, however as of this post it hasn't been seen since October 26th, so it is uncertain whether this bus is still in service or not.

W12 is experiencing quite a few changes with it recently extension from Wanstead to Woodford Bridge to cover withdrawn sections of the W14, as well as the new Enviro100EV’s which can be seen here. 46031, was one of three E100EV’s to roll out on the first day (10/05/2025) of the new allocation. The route will continue to use Enviro200’s until the full allocation is ready for passenger service. Here, 46031 can be seen departing Walthamstow Central for Woodford Bridge after a short curtail for a changeover.

Stagecoach London Wright Streetlite 39128 (SK17HGC) makes a rare appearance on the W14 and is seen here at Harrow Green on its last run bound for Leyton, Superstores.

The LSWR O2 Class is a class of 0-4-4T steam locomotive designed for the London and South Western Railway by William Adams. Sixty were constructed during the late nineteenth century. They were also the last steam engines to work on the Isle of Wight, with the final two being withdrawn in 1967.

Adams was presented with the problem of a greatly increasing volume of commuter traffic experienced with the suburbanisation of London during the 1880s This was exacerbated by the fact that there were few locomotive classes in the LSWR stable that could undertake commuter traffic at the desired level of efficiency The LSWR therefore required a locomotive with attributes of power and compactness, with a small wheel size to gain acceleration on intensive timetables. Adams settled upon the 0-4-4T wheel arrangement to provide the basis of what was to become the O2 Class

The class is usually best associated with the Isle of Wight railway system, with the Isle of Wight Central Railway making enquires as to the possibility of purchasing some class members in the early twentieth century. This plan fell through, however, and it was not until after Grouping in 1923 that the newly formed Southern Railway was forced to resolve the desperate locomotive power situation on the Isle of Wight.

W14 ‘Fishbourne’ was built as No,178 by LSWR at Nine Elms Works in 1889 and was shipped to the Isle of Wight 1936 and was based at 71F Ryde St John’s Road Shed, it remained there until 1967 withdrawn and ended up being scrapped on the Island.
