I must have vaguely been aware of these back in the 80's, but have no memory of them at all. It must not have been on my radar as something I might have wanted.
This sporty compact car was built in the Netherlands. It was designed by John de Vries (NL, 1945-2025) and Peter Horbury (UK, 1950-2023). The official presentation was in October 1985.
The 480 Coupé was technically related to the Volvo 440.460 sedan series.
The trim level called 'S' was introduced in 1992. It was an entry level with less options.
Seen at the back yard of Volvo specialist Garage Welovo, Beverwijk. I don't know if this car will be demolished for donor parts or will be restored.
1721 cc L4 petrol engine obtained from Renault.
Performance: 102 bhp.
910 kg.
Production Volvo 480 series: March 1986-Sept. 1995.
Production Volvo 480 this S version: 1992-1994.
Original first reg. number: April 10, 1992.
New Dutch reg. number: Dec. 5, 2018 (private import, still valid).
With current owner since Dec. 17, 2019.
Sold 5 times after import to NL.
