Artist Statement:

Elegy in Profile is about the things we do not say, the griefs we carry in our posture rather than our voice. The man, seated on a structure both ribbed and rigid, echoes the psychological curvature of guilt and memory. The diagonal shaft of light splits the frame but offers no direction — just exposure. I wanted this image to feel like a memory someone is trying not to remember. Stark. Clean. Inescapable. It’s the visual aftermath of internal reckoning.

This piece reflects on absence not the kind that screams, but the kind that hums at the edge of our sight. The figure beyond the glass has no name, no features, no reaction. They wait in the glow of streetlights, while the world folds in against the glass.

The moths are metaphors for memory, drawn to light but landing on distance. What separates us from the past is never space it’s a surface too fragile to break and too fogged to see through.

In The Frame Remembers What We Forget, I dissolve the boundaries between observer and observed. The figure does not witness a painting, but a portal — one which reflects not the past, not the future, but an unreachable stillness. The storm in the frame is not coming; it is waiting. This work is about memory as a landscape — how we revisit certain inner spaces so often, they begin to look staged. It is also about what we choose not to turn away from, and what silently observes us back.
