...so this little Robin visited us very briefly and landed on a wall next to us when we had morning 'Tea on the Terrace' while visiting Overbecks, nr. Salcombe, Devon, UK recently. Didn't have long to get a shot but luckily had an SLR to hand, rare that happens these days!!
Overbeck's itself is a house and garden tucked away on the cliffs above Salcombe. "It's a hidden paradise, a subtropical garden, bursting with colour, filled with exotic and rare plants and surprises round every corner, which surrounds the seaside home of scientist and inventor Otto Overbeck." It was a real treat to spend some time here.
Pentax K3 II paired with the Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 LD Macro 1:2 Lens, Standard run through in DxO Photo Lab on Mac, final tickle in Snapseed on iPad Pro, no cropping.

Here we're standing quayside in Plymouth, Devon - looking across Stonehouse Creek & the River Tamar to yonder shores of Cornwall beyond - the home of Poldark - yes ladies the one with the bare chest & scythe.
This is the English Riviera.
The magnificent building on the left is the Royal William Yard
This used to be a victualling yard (no? - me neither) - a giant grocery store to you & me which kept our Royal Navy stocked with food (& various liquid refreshments of course) - now converted into very grand overpriced flats but with some great thriving restaurants underneath.
HMNB Devonport is still the home of the British Navy & the largest operational naval base in Western Europe.
We are still here & open for business - never mind what stories you may have heard - we still love our European friends & will always be Europeans - but we've just decided to go Global!
Come & visit us now while the pound is still cheap & you get more bang for your buck! :)

I finally had the opportunity to visit the well-known safari blind at Mashatu Camp in Botswana. Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperative. It is typically so dry this time of year that the flowing Limpopo River, which we crossed by cable car, would have normally been dry. The area had experienced unseasonable and extensive rain, which provided the wildlife with readily available water sources and reduced their need to visit the pool at the blind. The blind itself is wonderful. It’s basically an underground house with beds and a kitchen, and a photography area with windows that look out just over the pool of water. Exterior lights are spread around to illuminate the nighttime visitors. While far off from its usual numbers, we still had elephants, wildebeest, hyenas, and zebras come visit us at night. Here is a shot of a couple of elephants having a drink. (African bush elephant - Loxodonta africana) (Sony a9m3, 70-200 f/ 4 lens at f/4, 1/160 of a second, ISO 1000)
