King's College in Old Aberdeen, Scotland, the full title of which is The University and King's College of Aberdeen (Collegium Regium Abredonense), is a formerly independent university founded in 1495 and now an integral part of the University of Aberdeen. Its historic buildings are the centrepiece of the University of Aberdeen's Old Aberdeen campus, often known as the King's or King's College campus.

The focal point of the college, as well as its oldest building, is the late 15th century King's College Chapel. A number of other historic buildings remain, with others being subject to renovation and rebuilding in the 18th and 19th centuries. In the early 20th century, a great deal of expansion saw the university buildings increase around the historic college buildings. In the later 20th century, the university expanded dramatically in size, dominating Old Aberdeen and expanding out from the High Street with a number of modern buildings.

Step inside a frozen sanctuary where nature meets geometry. This 360° capture reveals the full interior of a frost-covered greenhouse, allowing viewers to pan in every direction and explore its quiet symmetry. Taken with an Insta360 X5, the image preserves the intricate details of wicker chairs, dormant plants, and glass panels veiled in winter’s breath. A true immersive experience—where stillness becomes art.

Fun Fact

360° photography uses an equirectangular projection to map a spherical view into a flat image. When viewed interactively, it restores the full spatial experience, making you feel as if you’re standing inside the scene.

Explore Europe’s Columbus space laboratory with your mobile phone or VR headset in this panorama.

This 360° panorama lets you explore the International Space Station’s sixth module, Columbus. It was launched on 7 February 2008 on Space Shuttle Atlantis. The laboratory is ESA’s largest single contribution to the Station, and Europe’s first permanent research facility in space.

The state-of-the-art facility offers 75 cubic metres of workspace and contains a suite of research equipment. External platforms support experiments and applications in space science, Earth observation and technology.

Columbus offers European scientists full access to a weightless environment that cannot be duplicated on Earth.

Explore Columbus in Flickr, Facebook or YouTube format with your mobile phone and virtual-reality headset, or take the full tour including all Space Station modules with videos and extra information below. We will release a new Space Station module in 360° every week on Thursday.

St John’s Church is Located in the centre of the city of Aberdeen on St John’s Place just off Crown Street. St John’s today can claim descent from the mediaeval burghal church of St Nicholas: in 1693 Dr George Garden, the first Rector of St John’s, was ejected from the second charge of the East Kirk of St Nicholas for refusing to conform to the Presbyterian establishment. Those of his congregation who still adhered to Episcopacy left with him. In 1720, after five years in exile, he returned to Aberdeen and gathered the remnants of his congregation together. This was the real beginning of St John’s Church.

From the historic heights of Slottsfjellet, the autumn sun paints Tønsberg in golden tones. The Slottsfjelltårnet rises as a silent sentinel, surrounded by trees shedding their leaves. Beyond, the Byfjorden glimmers, stretching toward Nøtterøy, while Jarlsberg and Kjelle lie in the distance. This 360° unfolded sphere captures not just a hill, but a horizon of history and nature intertwined.

Slottsfjelltårnet was built in 1888 to commemorate Norway’s medieval history. The hill itself was once the site of a fortress dating back to the Viking Age, making Slottsfjellet one of Norway’s most iconic historical landmarks.

The Kirk of St Nicholas has been at the heart of Aberdeen, providing spiritual worship and refuge, since its ancient establishment in the 12th century. It is both a holy building and one that also chronicles the history of this rich city and her inhabitants.

The full archaeological exploration began at the end of January 2006 in the East Kirk. The work finished just before Christmas 2006. Whilst the actual dig is complete, a great deal of work still continues as all the 'finds' are subject to scientific analysis and further study. This process could take up to ten years to complete.

blue pride-of-Nieuwouldtville

A very special flower for two very special people Steve (ineedathis) and Susan (bunchadogs). Both of them love flowers and both have huge hearts. Thinking of you.

I found this flower at the church garden in Nieuwouldville when I was in what is called the Hantam district. Its botanical name is Geissorhiza splendidissima but "was called blue pride-of-Nieuwouldtville by the farmers in the area because of its brilliant blue colour. Leaves are narrow and cross-shaped in section. Flowers are glossy dark blue with a black centre and brown anthers, 20 -25 mm across. They flower from late August to September in stony clay flats in the Renosterveild. They are endemic to the area and are listed on the Red Data species list as vulnerable."

www.sanbi.org/gardens/hantam/virtualtour/hantam-nbg-blue-...

When I was there I wandered among the flowers in the very big field outside the church. It wasn't long before a not insubstantial lady joined me talking Afrikaans twenty to the dozen. When she had explained all the flowers and bulbs coming up to me she then turned her attention to the little blue flower above and said, all in Afrikaans: "don't worry little ones, your friends (maatjies) will all be joining you soon. Ag look here is a little maatjie for you, and my goodness look another one. Oh they are all coming now." I was as intrigued by her as the flowers. She also did me a great kindness by holding a flower at its base because the wind was blowing quite hard. I didn't have the heart to tell her that a photographer actually doesn't want fingers in a flower image.
