Les témoins retiennent surtout la poussière, les coups de feu, les corps immobiles.

Les récits s’emparent de leurs noms, les polissant ou les déformant selon les besoins de chacun.

Très vite, on ne sait plus si l’on parle de deux personnes ou de deux mythes que l’on façonne pour se divertir ou se rassurer.

Dans certains regards, ils deviennent des rebelles romantiques, dans d’autres, de simples criminels avides.

Mais la vérité, elle, reste coincée quelque part entre les deux : un mélange de choix malheureux, de blessures anciennes et de rêves trop grands.

Ce qui demeure, au-delà des versions et des fantasmes, c’est une question que personne ne peut trancher :

vaut-il mieux une vie courte et brûlante, ou une longue existence à moitié éteinte ?

Sa liberté me traverse, douce et brutale à la fois, rappelant tout ce que mon cœur n’ose pas encore réclamer.

Il ne sait rien de moi, pourtant il occupe tout l’espace que je porte à l’intérieur.

Dans son vol, je reconnais mes peurs, mes élans, mes rêves qui hésitent à prendre leur propre hauteur.

Il trace des chemins là où il n’existe ni route ni frontière, comme une promesse de dépassement.

Et tandis qu’il s’éloigne, je comprends que le ciel que je contemple n’est pas seulement au-dessus de moi, il commence au bord de mon cœur.
