In life, just like in billiards - you must know which ball to strike...
and when to let your opponent make the first mistake.
I started with the portrait of the girl. Her hair was pulled back behind her ear, which gave me the idea of the flower behind her ear. I used the color-based wand tool to separate the flower from its green background then inverting it to capture just the flower. I then copied and pasted the flower to the portrait image and placed the flower in her hair. I wanted to incorporate a butterfly but didn't want the butterfly flying in the air, so I used the edge-based magnetic lasso tool so capture the orange flower and stem and placed it in the portrait, rotating it to my liking. For the butterfly, I used the free-hand lasso tool to "cut out" the butterfly. To balance the portrait, I wanted to use Generative Fill to place the boat and the sun in the background. I used the geometric elliptical marquee tool for this.
