Watching protesters infront of Harrow Central Mosque in the distance.
Stop the Islamisation of Europe called for a demonstration outside Harrow Mosque in North West London to coincide with evening prayers on Friday September 11th. The protest was also being promoted by the English Defence League who have repeatedly clashed with Muslims and Anti-fascists in recent months. A counter demonstration was called by Unite Against Fascism.
About 1000 counter demonstrators gathered to protect the Mosque during the afternoon. Police ordered Stop the Islamisation of Europe to call of the protest to prevent violence.
A small group (less than 20) of English Defence League protesters were chased from the area by the counter demonstrators and were escorted away by the Police.
Frustrated elements of the crowd then turned on the Police resulting in a few skirmishes with bottles, stones and firecrackers being thrown. Other sections of the protesters eventually restrained these elements and by about 7.30 in the evening the crowd had started to disperse.
There were 10 arrests reported.

Protesters infront of 30 Millbank where Conservative Party Headquarters is based.
Approximately 50000 students marched through London peacefully to protest against increases in tuition fees. About 2000 protesters broke away from the march to occupy 30 Millbank where Conservative Party Headquarters are based. The 20 police protecting the building were heavily outnumbered. Although Conservative Party Headquarters were not occupied, the protesters gained access to the roof of the building and other floors, wrecking anything they could find. Objects, including a fire extinguisher, were thrown at police from the roof. Riot police eventually arrived taking several hours to clear the building and area outside.

An upper caste family listens as Video Volunteer videojournalist Niru J. Rathod, 24, does spot interviews with their family members in their home on topics of caste discrimination and water quality issues in a remote village in Surendranagar, Gujarat, India on 14 December 2012. The last time Niru had come to their home, she was discriminated against and served tea in a saucer meant for lower castes. Now, after seeing the effects of her video activism, the family no longer discriminates against her. Niru, the 8th child in a family of 11 girls born to a Dalit construction worker, has been using videography for social change since 2006. She shoots and produces her own short documentaries and is a committed video activist, having conducted hundreds of village video screenings where she also speaks to thousands of men, shattering their ideas about what a woman and a Dalit can do while bringing massive changes to the communities she documents. Protesters crossing fields towards Coryton Oil Refinery.
Environmental protesters held a day of protest against crude oil. With the targets of the protest not being released before hand, the police, press and most protesters believed that it would be a day of protests around central London.
At 10am protesters met in different groups at three of London's major mainline rail stations, and began to move towards the, as yet, still unknown protest target. Shortly before 12am it was reported that 12 climate activists had locked themselves to immobilised vehicles, and blocked the only access road to Coryton Oil Refinery in Essex, about 28 miles from London.
The majority of approximately 300 protesters arrived early afternoon and set up a road block across the four lanes of the access road to the refinery.
Police tested the roadblock, gently at first, and then broke through with more force, however, seemed disinclined to attempt to break up the blockade.
Oil refinery workers coming off shift were allowed through the blockade by protesters, however oil tanker movements were prevented. The protest took on more of a party atmosphere during the afternoon, although, at one stage, the refinery’s entrance sign was covered with graffiti. Tensions mounted again in the early evening as it appeared that the police may be gathering to remove the blockade.
Shortly afterwards, the protest ended as expected.

Several thousand protesters marched in East London between Stepney Green and Altab Ali Parks, protesting against racism and fascism.
The demonstration was sparked by plans by the English Defence League to protest in East London outside a venue where it claimed radical Islamic Preachers were speaking. The venue cancelled the event following pressure from Tower Hamlets council, and the EDL cancelled it's protest.
The counter demonstration against racism and fascism went ahead.
Following the march and rally in Altab Ali Park a group of 300 protesters gathered outside the East London Mosque in Whitechapel amid reports that the EDL were planning to enter the Whitechapel area. There were clashes between the protesters and police.
