We had the opportunity to help with a commercial video shoot for Perma-Seal yesterday. Instead of nine fingers, there should have been eight, with two thumbs (bite sized), all in search of two hands to attach themselves to. Of course, such grotesque suggestions and images would probably put off the guests in trying out these little baked delicacies.
But Cassandra was right. She learned that she had to roll the "fingers" much thinner before baking them, as they would swell up. She said to us that the first time out the dough was too thick, making the end result look more phallic than a finger.
As I have said previously, Cassandra was not allowed to pass out samples to the audience. Where these baked goodies went, I have no idea.
The guy who accidentally photobombed this shot was part of the campus' security. Perhaps seeing all this made him hungry.

Each passenger had the option of simply listening to music of their choice, or watching a movie that the airline provided, or watching a TV show. I opted to watch the first three episodes of "Only Murders in the Building." I'd seen the previews on line a lot, and so I decided I'd like to check it out. Now I have to find it on DVD, I've become a fan of the show.
If one didn't want to do any of that, they could just leave the monitor set where you see it in the photo, so you could see where the plane was on the journey. You could also find out how long the trip would take, the time of arrival, as well as the altitude and air temperature outside. During the three hour-plus flight we reached an altitude of 40,000 feet, with the outside air temperature at 62 degrees below zero. We were all provided ear buds to plug into the unit in front of us, and we could also plug in our phones to charge them up. So, despite the cramped quarters, the lack of a good, hot meal; and the lack of comfortable seating, we did have a few conveniences left to enjoy.
Now you can clearly see the "Witch's Finger," as created by Cassandra Peterson, aka Elvira. It's one of many recipes that can be found in her new book, "Elvira's Cookbook From Hell," which she was promoting at the L.A. Times Festival of Books on the USC campus. She created seven more of these things before putting the pan in the oven.
Unfortunately, Cassandra wasn't able to share her creation with anyone in the audience. Festival rules, I guess.

Nanjing Road uses a grouping of advertising video monitors to mark the eastern end of the pedestrian mall.
Located in Huangpu District, Nanjing Road (Nanjing East Road, to be exact) stretches from Xizang Middle Road in the west to He'nan Middle Road in the east.
Nanjing Road enjoys a history of over 100 years and used to be called “Parker Lane”. It was named Nanjing Road officially in 1865 and turned into a pedestrianized road in 1999.
The Commodore 64, commonly called C64, C=64 (after the graphic logo on the case) or occasionally CBM 64 (for Commodore Business Machines), or VIC-64, is an 8-bit home computer introduced in January 1982 by Commodore International.
Volume production started in the spring of 1982, with machines being released on to the market in August at a price of US$ 595. Preceded by the Commodore VIC-20 and Commodore PET, the C64 took its name from its 64 kilobytes (65,536 bytes) of RAM, and had favorable sound and graphical specifications when compared to contemporary systems such as the Apple II, at a price that was well below the circa US$ 1200 demanded by Apple.
During the C64's lifetime, sales totalled between 12.5 and 17 million units, making it the best-selling single personal computer model of all time. For a substantial period (1983–1986), the C64 dominated the market with between 30% and 40% share and 2 million units sold per year, outselling the IBM PC compatibles, Apple Inc. computers, and Atari 8-bit family computers.

In January 1981, MOS Technology, Inc., Commodore's integrated circuit design subsidiary, initiated a project to design the graphic and audio chips for a next generation video game console. Design work for the chips, named MOS Technology VIC-II (graphics) and MOS Technology SID (audio), was completed in November 1981.
Commodore then began a game console project that would use the new chips—called the Ultimax or alternatively the Commodore MAX Machine, engineered by Yash Terakura from Commodore Japan. This project was eventually cancelled after just a few machines were manufactured for the Japanese market.
At the same time, Robert "Bob" Russell (system programmer and architect on the VIC-20) and Robert "Bob" Yannes (engineer of the SID) were critical of the current product line-up at Commodore, which was a continuation of the Commodore PET line aimed at business users. With the support of Al Charpentier (engineer of the VIC-II) and Charles Winterble (manager of MOS Technology), they proposed to Commodore CEO Jack Tramiel a true low-cost sequel to the VIC-20. Tramiel dictated that the machine should have 64 kB of random-access memory (RAM). Although 64 kB of dynamic random access memory (DRAM) cost over US$100 at the time, he knew that DRAM prices were falling, and would drop to an acceptable level before full production was reached. In November, Tramiel set a deadline for the first weekend of January, to coincide with the 1982 Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
The product was code named the VIC-40 as the successor to the popular VIC-20. The team that constructed it consisted of Bob Russell, Bob Yannes and David A. Ziembicki. The design, prototypes and some sample software was finished in time for the show, after the team had worked tirelessly over both Thanksgiving and Christmas weekends.
The machine incorporated Commodore BASIC 2.0 in ROM. BASIC also served as the user interface shell and was available immediately on startup at the READY. prompt.
When the product was to be presented, the VIC-40 product was renamed C64 to fit the then-current Commodore business products lineup which contained the P128 and the B256, both named by a letter and their respective total memory size (in KBytes).
The C64 made an impressive debut at the January 1982 Winter Consumer Electronics Show, as recalled by Production Engineer David A. Ziembicki: "All we saw at our booth were Atari people with their mouths dropping open, saying, 'How can you do that for $595?'" The answer, as it turned out, was vertical integration; thanks to Commodore's ownership of MOS Technology's semiconductor fabrication facilities, each C64 had an estimated production cost of only US$135.

The person who goes by the name of Kristal Kira set up their 4K video system again this year, using only one camera this time instead of the two-camera setup at last year's Doo Dah Queen Tryouts. It was also placed in a different location, next to one of the tables for the judges, instead of up close to the stage and to the right of where I shot this. I suppose it was blocking the view of some of the contestants and American Legion members who enjoy the Queen Tryouts. I checked out Kira's YouTube channel, and while I didn't see the queen tryouts there I did see last year's parade. The camera was in lock-down mode and simply recorded the entire parade in real time, capturing all the acts as they passed by. I noticed also that Kira set the camera to run at 60p in 4K mode. The monitor here showed the same thing, shooting 4K at 60p, which makes it look more like live video than what I like to use on HD, which is 24p. That frame rate makes it look more like I am shooting film, close to Super-16mm film.
This is a frame capture from HD video using the Canon EOS Rebel T6 camera, with the Canon 18-55mm zoom lens. Once I get started editing this video I will include this shot, but you probably wouldn't be able to tell the video on the monitor is 60p, let alone 4K.

A Prefeitura de Contagem promoveu, na quarta-feira (1/2), evento que marcou a abertura do Ano Escolar de 2023 no município, com a presença de diretores (as) e vice-diretores (as) da Rede Municipal de Educação e da Fundação de Ensino de Contagem – Funec. O encontro ocorreu no Espaço do Encontro, na Prefeitura e teve transmissão ao vivo no Youtube.
Dirigentes, professores (as), trabalhadores (as) da Educação, crianças, estudantes e comunidade escolar encontrarão escolas mais preparadas, modernas e divertidas. Em 2023, serão realizados diversos investimentos em tecnologia, materiais e equipamentos pedagógicos, segurança, formação e valorização de professores (as).
A prefeita Marília Campos ressaltou todo o processo histórico da Educação em Contagem e destacou algumas conquistas recentes. “Temos pessoas de diferentes gerações na nossa Educação. É importante, nesse momento, socializar todo o processo histórico”.
Foram feitos investimentos em materialidade (móveis ), segurança, equipamentos, tecnologia, formação e valorização, como destacou Marília. “Temos os educadores mais valorizados da Região Metropolitana de Belo Horizonte. Em termos proporcionais, pagamos acima do piso salarial. E vamos fazer novos concursos públicos e garantir a carreira de nossos professores e professoras”.
“Estou muito feliz, otimista e esperançosa. Minha expectativa é a maior possível, quero que a cidade crie oportunidades e isso se faz por meio da Educação. Contagem pode ter a melhor Educação de Minas e até do país”, conclui a prefeita Marília Campos.
Na abertura do ano escolar, os participantes, espectadores e toda comunidade contagense conheceu algumas ações que estão sendo implementadas para a Educação em 2023, com investimentos em câmeras de videomonitoramento nas escolas, jogos e materiais pedagógicos como o “Mente Inovadora” e “Coleção Tema”, brinquedos e playgrounds, kit escolar, uniforme, livros, tablets, notebooks, amplificadores de voz e muito mais.
A secretária de Educação, Telma Fernanda Ribeiro, pontuou que todas as ações para a Educação foram construídas por “uma grande equipe”, tanto da Seduc quanto de outras secretarias municipais e setores da administração pública.
Os vereadores Alex Chiodi e Pastor Itamar, presidentes da Câmara Municipal e da Comissão de Educação, respectivamente, também participaram do evento. Assim como os representantes da Editora Aprender e do Mentes Inovadoras, secretários municipais e administradores regionais.

Ao longo de 2022, a Prefeitura de Contagem e a Secretaria de Educação lançaram o “Escola Viva”, Programa de Educação Integral e Integrada, com os projetos de tutoria e “Além dos Muros”, destacado pelo diretor da Escola Municipal Giovanini Chiodi, Thiago Antônio da Silva Camini.
“Na minha percepção, o ‘Além dos Muros’ foi o projeto mais interessante que a gente vivenciou na escola. Todos nossos estudantes, dos três turnos, puderam participar, quase mil estudantes”, afirmou Thiago.
Diego Fiúza Gomes, diretor da E.M. Professor Geraldo Basílio Ramos, ressaltou o Escola Viva e a possibilidade da escola desenvolver projetos inovadores e que envolvem a comunidade. “Fizemos a Rede Literária, onde colocamos redes debaixo das árvores para as crianças lerem. Toda a comunidade usa o espaço nos eventos da escola. Ainda tem as tutorias, que permitem uma interação com os estudantes de forma mais sensível”, disse.
Cristiane Favato de Souza, diretora da E.M Dona Cordelina da Silveira Mattos, também enalteceu o “Escola Viva”, enquanto Cristiane Gouveia, diretora do Centro Municipal de Educação Infantil – Cemei Carmem do Rosário Rocha e a professora da unidade, Eliane Melgaço, apresentaram o “Projeto Florescer”.
O professor Marco Antonio Melo Franco, da Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto – UFOP fez uma apresentação com o tema “Dialogando sobre Educação e Processos de Ensino e Aprendizagem” e, depois, respondeu questionamentos do público presente e também de espectadores do youtube.
Funec 50 anos
O vice-presidente da Funec, Paulo Figueiredo, agradeceu a presença de todos dirigentes presentes e, em especial, de diretores (as) e vice-diretores (as) das dez unidades da Funec. Paulo lembrou que em 2023 a Funec completa 50 anos, em 21 de março, “conectada à comunidade escolar” e seguindo como uma referência na Educação no país. Também foi apresentado ao público a nova logo da Funec.

Neste sábado (25/3), a prefeita Marília Campos retornou ao Parque Amendoeiras, na região Nacional, para apresentar à comunidade as etapas do processo de revitalização e ocupação do espaço. Acompanhada de secretários municipais, representantes do legislativo e do comando da Guarda Civil de Contagem, Marília detalhou a agenda de intervenções que será executada.
De acordo com ela, estão previstas obras estruturais para garantir a estabilidade do solo, instalação de novos equipamentos, ampliação da segurança, além da implementação de projetos culturais e esportivos que serão desenvolvidos a partir do perfil dos frequentadores. “Quando estive aqui, há cerca de um mês, fiquei indignada com a situação de vandalismo e abandono. Hoje retorno para anunciar melhorias e pedir à comunidade que seja parceria da Prefeitura nesse processo de ocupação e conservação”, destacou.
A proposta apresentada aos moradores prevê a recuperação dos alambrados dos campos; reforma e pintura das arquibancadas; substituição da areia existente; revitalização da área do playground, com a instalação de novos brinquedos; recuperação dos aparelhos da academia ao ar livre; implantação de rampas de acessibilidade; reformas das salas de vidro; reforma da quadra poliesportiva e reforma dos vestiários.
“Além das intervenções estruturais, a Prefeitura pretende recuperar as nascentes, replantar a vegetação, desenvolver atividades de educação ambiental, implantar uma trilha suspensa e, futuramente, fazer a interligação deste parque com o Vale das Orquídeas, propiciando uma área de convivência”, informou a secretária municipal de Meio Ambiente e Sustentabilidade, Maria Tereza Camisão Mesquita.
Serão executadas ainda obras de contenção, sondagem e compactação do solo para garantir a estabilização do terreno. Segundo o secretário de Obras e Serviços Urbanos, Marcos Túlio de Melo, momentaneamente serão gerados alguns transtornos aos frequentadores, pois será preciso isolar parte da área com tapume para dar início às intervenções. “Vai haver um desconforto durante o período da obra, mas necessário para que possamos executar um serviço de contenção tecnicamente correto, que empregue uma solução adequada e permanente para evitar futuras erosões que geram problemas ao parque ”, salientou.
A previsão é que essas obras sejam iniciadas em abril e concluídas no segundo semestre de 2022. Após a recuperação total do espaço, serão formatados e implementados projetos nas áreas de segurança, cultura e esporte.
No âmbito da segurança, o comandante da Guarda Civil, Wedisson Luiz, informou que na proposta estão previstas a instalação de câmeras no parque, conectadas à central de videomonitoramento do município; implantação do serviço de vigia e a intensificação do policiamento de proximidade, que visa à prevenção da criminalidade e ao uso consciente dos espaços públicos. Também estão previstas ações culturais com a utilização da banda e do canil da corporação.
Em relação às atividades culturais, a secretária municipal de Cultura, Monique Pacheco, anunciou que pretende ocupar o espaço por meio da implementação de oficinas, festivais e projetos como o “Circuito Cultural” e “Cinema no Parque”. Quanto ao esporte, o subsecretário Rafael Resende comunicou que a intenção é desenvolver atividades para todas as idades, por meio da implementação dos programas “Contagem Ativa”, “Primeiros Passes”, “Olimpíada no Parque” e “Circuito Inclusão”.
Ao final do encontro, a prefeita Marília Campos propôs a criação de uma comissão, composta por membros da comunidade, para acompanhar as etapas de revitalização do Parque das Amendoeiras.

My new kite aerial photography ground station.
The heart of it is a 7" Feelworld LCD monitor I got back in March. Two things drove me to get it:
First, my near vision is quite bad, so to use a monitor I either need to wear glasses that I then have to take off to see the kite, or I need a big monitor. I got a big monitor.
Second, my older monitor would switch to a blue screen and try to re-negotiate PAL vs. NTSC input when it couldn't detect an input, or saw a glitch on the input signal. Wireless video is ALWAYS glitchy, so it was always going blue, or re-negotiating PAL vs. NTSC, or doing something else automatically that I really didn't want it to do.
The Feelworld monitor is 100% manual. You tell it NTSC vs. PAL, and if you get static in your signal, you get static on your monitor. It's nice.
Plus, it came with a really cool sun shade.
I wanted the entire ground station to be a single enclosed unit I could hold in my hand. I also wanted it to be able to mount to my KAP transmitter, just like my old setup. I wanted to be able to use my cloverleaf/skew planar wheel antennas, or to use beam antennas like a Yagi without having to rebuild everuthing. And most of all I wanted a monitor that didn't crap out every time it caught some noise in the signal.
I got all of it.
