One of my favorite homes, among the restored houses in the Heritage Hill historical district of Grand Rapids, is this "Stick House." It was built for a lumberman in 1892.
"Stick style" of architecture features steep roofs, elaborate roof brackets, and prominent boards that divide the wooden walls.

The nineteen century Victorian mansion "Muckross House" is set in the beauty of Killarny National Park in Ireland and is built in the "Tudor Style". This beautiful mainsion was built for Henry Arthur Herbert.
The Herberts, that was a very rich family, undertook extensive garden works and renovated the mainson with a very luxurios interior because Henry categorically wanted Queen Victoria to visit his mainsion with its beautiful gardens and landscape park. The preparations for this royal visit were so complicated that the family ran into financial problems and after the queen's visit they went bankrupt and were forced to sell Muckross House.

The Martin Burkhardt House is a small mid-Victorian-era cottage that was built in the late 1860s. Mr. Burkhardt was a harness and saddlemaker who live at the address until 1904.
It is a charming house but appears overwhelmed by the considerably larger houses in the Franklin Square District, including the Dr. Ernest Mammen House shown earlier in this series that stands next door.
The house appears to have retained much of its integrity although it is said to originally had an ornate porch with columns and banisters. There is an addition coming off the east (left) side. This addition looks to be authentic and does not take away from the home's original integrity.
The Martin Burkhardt House is a contributing property in Bloomington's Franklin Square Historic District, which is located northwest of downtown Bloomington. The Square is named in honor of Franklin Price, who was the mayor of Bloomington Mayor in 1856 when land for the Square was gifted to the city.
Franklin Square was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, and was designated a local historic district in 1979. The houses of Franklin Square were built in a variety of architectural styles from the mid 19th century through the early 20th century, including Georgian Revival, Italianate, Colonial, Queen Anne, and Richardsonian Romanesque.
Bloomington is the seat of McLean County. It is adjacent to Normal, and is the more populous of the two principal municipalities of the Bloomington-Normal metropolitan area. Bloomington is home to State Farm Insurance, Country Financial and Beer Nuts. Illinois Wesleyan University is located here, while the neighboring city of Normal is home to Illinois State University and Heartland Community College. Bloomington is 135 miles (217 km) southwest of Chicago, and 162 miles (261 km) northeast of St. Louis. The estimated population of Bloomington in 2019 was 77,330, with a metro population of 191,067.

The photo was taken at the Tyntesfield House,near Bristol,where the National Trust property was decorated in the style of a Victorian Christmas.
John Leavell was a wealthy dry goods merchant who led the first hook and ladder company of the Georgetown Fire Department. This beautiful Queen Anne-style house was built for him in 1890. The Leavell House was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. In 2010, the property was fully restored with a new addition seen here on the right that added a second-story master bathroom, walk-in closet, elevator, and a third floor library.
Georgetown has a notable range of Victorian commercial and residential architecture. In 1977, the Williamson County Courthouse Historical District, containing some 46 contributing structures including the commercial building to which these stairs are attached, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Georgetown, located 30 miles north of Austin and with a population of 90,262 in 2020, is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States.
Porth Wen Brickworks near to Amlwch, Anglesey is a disused Victorian-era fire brick factory. The bricks were built from quartzite to line steel furnaces.
The site includes three distinctive beehive-style down-draught kilns, chimneys, engine and boiler houses, storage and warehouse buildings, and remnants of an incline tramroad.
It operated from roughly 1850 until WWI (1906–1908 under Steibel, then Charles Tidy), with production briefly resuming 1924–1924 or until 1949.
It closed mainly due to transport challenges — the poor harbour and sea erosion.

Maybe it's getting a little out of hand with the watches... Or, in this case, a watch part of a vintage pocket watch given to me by my Dad when I was about 14. It has long stopped working, and now, sadly, the minute hand has also come off. On the other hand, this allowed me to photograph the minute hand in a different setting other than on the watch face. The minute hand is a delicate, thin piece of brass, and I had to handle it with utmost care not to bend or even break it. So I thought I'd pair it with something equally soft and delicate, the white feather I've already used for a few MM themes.
High-key lent itself to this subject, and since I love the combination of white, gold, and blue, I once again used the blue glitter foam sheet (dull side up) as background. The scene was directly illuminated from above, and indirectly with two LEDs pointed at a small, gold-coated cardboard cake board that I use as a reflector.
In the first comment, you can see the pocket watch with all the hands still in place...

A view of the second Library Block Building at N. Main and E. William streets in downtown Decatur. This building replaced a near identical structure destroyed by fire in 1892. The first Library Block building housed Decatur's public library for a time. This second Library Building derived its name from the original structure, but has been in use as a retail and office building during most of its existence.
Locals also refer to this building as the Haines & Essick Building. Haines & Essick was a popular, long-time Decatur department store that relocated to this building in 1927, and remained here until the store's closure in 2016.
The architectural style of the Library Block is Romanesque. Library Block is listed as an architecturally significant building in the Decatur Downtown Historic District. The district includes 75 buildings, 61 of which are considered significant or contributing to its historic character. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Decatur has an economy based on industrial and agricultural commodity processing and production. The city is home of private Millikin University and public Richland Community College. The city was the original home of the Chicago Bears, known as the Decatur Staleys from 1919 to 1920, and as the Chicago Staleys in 1921.
Decatur's estimated population in 2021 was 69,646.

Lews Castle, is a Victorian era Gothic Revival building dating to ~1850, perched on a hill above Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, Scotland. It is a Category A listed structure that has had a varied history, currently housing a museum, cafe and luxury accommodations.

Grey squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis).
Grey squirrels were introduced from America into the UK during the Victorian era by collectors and wealthy landowners as they were considered to be curiosities.
The earliest recorded introduction of the species was in 1876 at Hanbury Park in Cheshire.
Today their estimated population is 2.5 million.
A common sight across the UK the species has not extended to north and western Scotland where the native Red Squirrel habitate.

Hugo Wertheim was a German migrant to Australia in the late 19th century, an importer of sewing machines and other mechanical devices, and the first maker of pianos in Victoria in the early 20th. Unfortunately, the words under the Wertheim name are too faded to make out.
Classiebawn Castle on the Mullaghmore Peninsula, County Sligo, rises over bright grazing pastures under a soft Atlantic sky. A band of cattle dots the hillside while the estate’s turrets and ridge-line position anchor the rural landscape.
The Queenscliff Pier and lifeboat shed were an integral part of the infrastructure provided to improve the safety for ships entering or leaving Port Phillip. Many lives were saved though the efforts of the crews that manned the lifeboat, which is now located in the nearby Queenscliffe Maritime Museum.
Today, visitors can take a relaxing stroll or try their luck fishing from the end of the pier. Picnic and barbecue facilities are located nearby along the foreshore.
Brighton Beach is home to 82 distinctive bathing boxes built well over a century ago, a row of uniformly proportioned wooden structures lining the foreshore.

In Atlanta, Illinois, off the historic Route 66 is the J.H. Hawes Grain Elevator. It was built in 1904, and abandoned in 1976. In the 80's it was considered too large a fire hazard to remain, but citizens protested, causing it's restoration and listing on the National Register of Historic Places. It is a Victorian era, heavy timber structure that now has a museum operate around it.

A rare night off and able to travel through Central London and decided to see what this was like again. It looked really good with lights on this time. It was promising rain but sadly it was dry by the time I got there.

Architect: William Russell Walker (1830–1905)
Built in 1876 this “Second Empire” Victorian structure was once known locally as the “Music Hall”. It featured shows, plays and various musical events. In 1906 the Town of Killingly purchased the building for use as the Town Hall.
Unfortunately, the decorative slate roof that once adorned the mansard tower was changed to sheet metal or aluminum. The original Victorian entryway was also the victim of extensive glass and steel modifications.
