These are the stripped remains of the British steamer “H.M.S.Crested Eagle” on the beach of Zuydcoote (near Dunkirk). The wreck is a tragic reminder of the WWII Dunkirk evacuation: operation Dynamo. The Crested Eagle run aground on May 29, 1940 after being attacked by German dive bombers and set on fire, killing more than 300 soldiers and crew.
The Crested Eagle was one of 228 larger boats lost in the operation. Including the smaller boats, the number of ships sunk is more than 300.
This topic is near and dear to me. As a victim of cyber-bullying I understand how it can change your life.
The wounds on the inside take longer to heal than wounds on the outside do. They hurt more, they last longer, they alter who you are. Though it always makes you feel the way I look in this pic.

Il Memoriale dell'Olocausto è un memoriale a Berlino dedicato alle vittime dell'Olocausto. Si trova un isolato a sud della Porta di Brandeburgo. Consiste in un’area di 19.000 m2 coperta con 2.711 blocchi di cemento o "stele", disposti in un modello di griglia su un campo in pendenza. Le steli sono 2,38 m di lunghezza, 0,95 m di larghezza e variano in altezza da 0,2 a 4,8 m. E' stato inaugurato il 10 maggio 2005, 60 anni dopo la fine della seconda guerra mondiale. Le steli sono state progettate per indurre una sensazione di disagio e creare un’atmosfera confusa. Tuttavia, gli osservatori hanno notato somiglianza del memoriale ad un cimitero.
The Holocaust Memorial is a memorial in Berlin to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust. It is located one block south of the Brandenburg Gate. It consists of a 19,000 m2 site covered with 2,711 concrete slabs or "stelae", arranged in a grid pattern on a sloping field. The stelae are 2.38 m long, 0.95 m wide and vary in height from 0.2 to 4.8 m. It was inaugurated on May 10, 2005, sixty years after the end of World War II. The stelae are designed to produce an uneasy, confusing atmosphere. However, observers have noted the memorial's resemblance to a cemetery.

Yesterday, in my ongoing review and cleaning of my old photos in Lightroom, I arrived to photos taken in Brussels. This morning, I heard the terrible news; another terrible news of the same kind: a score of innocent people killed and maimed by a bunch of insane lunatics. I love Brussels, and my heart goes out to the victims’ relatives and friends. I just can’t remain silent. From my small collection, I have chosen this photo of a sculptural composition with the name and author unknown to me. Today, I interpret it as a memorial to the victims who could still live, love, laugh, and work to make their city even more beautiful…
If we get the right information from our society during development, and if our body do chemical, physical, biological and psychological functions well, we do well.
Cet ossuaire construit en 1476, abrite les cadavres momifiés par le froid, des égarés morts dans le col, victimes de la montagne et dont les corps n'ont pas été réclamés. Objet de curiosité morbide, elle a été murée vers 1950.
Pas de porte, des fenêtres sans vitres y laissent entrer l'air et un peu de lumière. C'est aussi par là que pénètrent les religieux pour y dresser, enveloppés d'un suaire et liés par une corde sur une planche, les cadavres trouvés dans la montagne lorsqu'ils n'ont pas été réclamés. Les derniers venus sont là debout contre le mur au fond, la face découverte, hideuse, grimaçante; sous le suaire entrouvert, sous les vêtements qui s'effilochent et s'en vont par lambeaux, apparaissent des muscles noircis, des fémurs, des tibias; les chaussures crevées laissent entrevoir les os dénudés des pieds. D'autres plus anciens se penchent, s'affalent les uns sur les autres.
Bientôt, le temps poursuivant son œuvre lente de destruction, la corde qui les soutient se rompra, ils s'écrouleront en une masse informe, et finalement il n'en subsistera, comme de ceux qui les ont précédés, que quelques os épars sur un peu de terre noire. Même à ceux dont les nerfs ne vibrent point facilement, la vue d'un tel spectacle, dans ce décor lugubre, donne la chair de poule et l'on a hâte de s'éloigner.

Today is a sunny.... but we have 60 m.p.h. winds coming off the lake .... not 5 minutes before this chair came flying off the beach and smash into the tree....Frank was doing his business at the tree that I wrote on....good thing he was done....if not unformed poop would have come out my little brave one..... lol

Victime de nombreuses attaques et pillages, elle est rénovée au début du XIIIè siècle. Elle a été bombardée par Lesdiguières pendant les guerres de Religion (1591). Après cette attaque, en 1591, le siège de l’évêché fut transféré à la cathédrale Saint-Jérôme de Digne.

During late 2018 and into most of 2019, CN Experienced a rather drastic power shortage. In an effort to combat it, they leased various engines. A large group of former CSX 8-40CWs were amongst the engines leased as shown by train M397 as they cruise by Lansing with a big train on the drawbar. Much like the leasers, the CN owned Dash 8s are also being stored, retired, and sold off. Just another casualty to time and modernity.
