Shot with the Olympus E-M1, Mark II and Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm F2.8 Pro lens in Jacksonville, Vermont on a wintry day. Jacksonville is a small village in Whitingham, a couple of miles south of Wilmington along Route 100.

Built in 1826, a 189 foot long timber-framed covered bridge crosses the Ottauquechee River in the Taftsville village of Woodstock, Vermont . It is probably one of the most photograph covered bridges in the state.

There's lots to like about the old Central Vermont main across the Green Mountain State, with lots of scenic trestles and old stations lining the right of way. The line's normal freight trains (NECR 323 and 324) typically traverse the railroad in darkness, but this summer's Vermont Railway detour trains provided a welcome opportunity to shoot freight on the line in better light. Although the trains have used leased GMTX GP38s instead of VTR red, they still look great against the scenery of Vermont. On our last of three days chasing the detours, we shot northbound RDBD soaring over the Winooski River between Waterbury and Richmond.

I set this capture up while there in this pretty setting located in Vermont, but my daughter was busy there in the scene taking a capture of a salamander at that time :)

A fun outing we had together this past year, and something to be very thankful for on this day.

One year ago, Oksana left the ravages of war torn Ukraine to come to the ravages of dealing with the public in retail sales! She was perfect for the job, she couldn't have been sweeter!

One of nine bridges in Vermont with a Burr Arch design. Please note that the pipe protruding from the ground is not the periscope of a Danish submarine mistaking Green Mountain (Vermont) with Greenland. They also didn't confuse Iceland with Greenland - only a complete moron could do that!

This is the old Walloomsac Inn, a very sadly derelict structure in old Bennington Vermont. It was built around 1764 - well, probably not this part, but the older rectangular front part. The title of this photo is a play on the New England placard 'George Washington slept here,' sometimes seen on old houses - the veracity of which is often unproven. However, in 1791, it is well-documented that Jefferson and James Madison actually did stay here when the two were visiting the new state of Vermont.

It was sad to see this place in the current state that it sits. It's privately owned and posted private property no trespassing, so I only took a few pictures from the road. I like how this one turned out under the canopy of a tree across the street.

Vermont was supposed to have a significant snowfall on Friday and Saturday and into Sunday morning. 300 metres down the road from this there was virtually no snow on Sunday morning. This is not a B&W photo.

While driving through South Woodstock, VT, we saw an incredible red barn on a meticulous and beautiful farm. We later discovered that Michael J. Fox (Actor) was the previous owner having sold it a few years ago. The setting is amazing. (Edited in Lightroom, Photoshop and Topaz)

The autumn of 2015 was the most vibrant I've seen in ten years in Vermont.

This hillside is just outside Waterville, Vermont (population 686 in 2020). I had stopped to see a little fair at the town hall, and then to photograph a nice little country house when I noticed the view on the other side of the street (seen here).

I, a Canadian, was standing on a hillside road preparing to photograph the Vermont valley below. An orange cat walked up the hill while making incoherent sounds, ranting about something. I took his photo as he approached, but he insisted that I could not do so without concessions. I explained that I had already photographed him. He said I could not take the photo unless I made concessions and bought pizza in the US at the end of the day. I reminded him that I had already taken the photo – it had been done - and explained that I always have pizza at the end of the day in Vermont, so it was not a concession. He agreed that I had conceded. He further insisted that I stop bringing non-orange cats or catnip into the country. I explained that I have never done that, but that more cats and catnip cross into Canada from the US than the other way around (not to mention guns!!). He agreed that I will stop doing the thing that I am not doing. I stated again that I have never done it, and as such could not do again something that I have never done before. He said that we had had a good talk, maybe even the best talk, and walked away. As he passed my car, he noted my dog sitting in the back seat. He told me to fire my dog or at least offer him a buy-out. My dog just shook his head and said, “That orange cat is an a&$*ole!”

When you load a gun and point it at the head of a friend, that friend cannot ever trust you again. Furthermore, your other ‘friends’ who have witnessed the lies, false accusations and threats cannot ever trust you again. What some claim was a harmless bargaining technique is forcing most friends and trading partners to reassess their existing relationship and align with other, more stable, partners. Lies do and should have consequences. Pathological liars cannot be trusted. People who support, defend and enable pathological liars, also cannot be trusted. I like all the states that I have visited. I like all the people I have met there, but my dog was right.
