In Woodstock, VT. Cars can drive across this bridge so I was a little worried about standing in the middle of the road taking this. A photographer has to do what they have to do. Happy Saturday to you all!!
A very pretty location there in Vermont, not far from Stowe. This is one of the pretty drops along the cascade that stretches along the brook.
There's lots to like about the old Central Vermont main across the Green Mountain State, with lots of scenic trestles and old stations lining the right of way. The line's normal freight trains (NECR 323 and 324) typically traverse the railroad in darkness, but this summer's Vermont Railway detour trains provided a welcome opportunity to shoot freight on the line in better light. Although the trains have used leased GMTX GP38s instead of VTR red, they still look great against the scenery of Vermont. On our last of three days chasing the detours, we shot northbound RDBD soaring over the Winooski River between Waterbury and Richmond.
Montpelier, Vermont
Fun fact: Montpelier is the only state capital city in the U.S. without a McDonald's restaurant. Thanks, Lois, for that information.
Shot with the Olympus E-M1ii and the Olympus 12-40mm f2.8 pro lens somewhere mid-state along route 7.
The cornfields in Quebec are brown at this time of year. I was surprised to see that they are not only still green in Vermont, but in the bright sunlight they are florescent green.
Mmmmm. Slag Creek! Anyone want to join me for a morning swim in Slag Creek?? Sounds appetizing. This photo was taken a week ago. I passed there yesterday and it is now completely frozen over, so you will have to wait until the spring.
I set this capture up while there in this pretty setting located in Vermont, but my daughter was busy there in the scene taking a capture of a salamander at that time :)
A fun outing we had together this past year, and something to be very thankful for on this day.
Happy Thanksgiving
We spent a couple of days up in Ludlow, Vermont, and you can't spend time in that area without visiting the Vermont General Store in Weston! If ever in the area, and you want to kill an hour, or more, I highly recommend a visit! With so much to see (and photograph if you are so inclined) you will not be disappointed, I promise! Everything from penny candies to kitchen utensils, and hats and shirts to neat old toys. Local cheeses and other treats too, and there's stuff everywhere and in a great and pretty large post and beam store. And there's a nice old Advanced Design Chevy pickup outside full of flowers in the bed. The place is a winner...and I took a bunch of shots with many more to be posted. I hope you'll enjoy them!
