Picture taken in the center of Nanjing, one or two blocks away from the giant (and exclusive) commercial mall that recently opened in the city. Hopefully some informal uses of the public space are persisting in this city devastated by contemporary development. I liked the cool posture of this vendor and the crude lighting of fruits in the baskets.
When entering and leaving the Silicon Valley International Auto Show in San José, California, you have to run the gauntlet known as Vendors Row. People trying to sell you all things automotive.
Sometimes a pain trying to get through, but you might also find some pretty cool stuff. At the least, you can probably find somebody who will clean your glasses for free.

Des Moines Farmer's Market---The absolute best farmer's maret I've ever seen. Literally thousands of people come out. Live music on street after street of vendors. Breakfast burritos and every other form of eat now or take home food.
The focus here is not what it should have been, but I liked it anyway.

Photo taken at the now closed Marin City, California, Flea Market in 1993. The vendors were free thinking people full of character and style.
Sadness is what it seems this guy feels inside him while he is taking some rest in front of a convenience store where he sought a temporary shelter during a slight rain.
Beside him are two pieces of furniture - a 4-inch thick foam bed and a foldable metal tube reclining chair - which, according to him, he is selling.
Upon my further query, he also said that he is a member of a group of mobile vendors from a neighboring province and each member is assigned to cover a certain section of a village.
He started working as soon as his team arrived at the town proper of Subic this morning, but unfortunately for this 36-year-old man, until now (it's already late in the afternoon) he hasn't sold any of his goods yet.
Captured at a village adjacent to the said town proper. Subic is in Zambales province, Philippines.

Upon seeing my camera pointed at her and her fruit stands, a vendor makes quickly a "V" sign with her two fingers just in front her face as she looks directly at me.
