These moss-covered rocks were a standout at Ohawe beach, on the Taranaki south coast. Interestingly, only the rocks on the edge of the river were affected, not sure why. Maybe mixing of fresh and sea water at high tide??

The flower has been notably featured in the graphic novel V for Vendetta, but in the movie version, is renamed to the fictitious "Scarlet Carson" which Ruth grows for her partner (Valerie) and V grows during his imprisonment in the Larkhill Resettlement Camp. They were portrayed in the film by red 'Grand Prix' roses.

This is the youngest Rose bush in the garden.

I planted it about 14 years ago. It has Wonderfully velvet petals.

It is such a stand out Rose, I decided to make it stand out more with a single colour.

This was all processed in camera.

A young Columbia white-tail deer in velvet. Once endangered, the species is making a comeback though is still considered threatened.

I'm off to see if there'll be a sunrise this morning in the Brecon Beacons. I guess Pen y Fan will be too busy so I'll go elsewhere. During a snow shower on my last visit I noticed these beautiful receding ridges beyond Cribyn. It's quite understated and calming , a nice change for me. Velvet snow is by Kings of Leon, and that was the first title i saw this morning when I opened my playlist.
