Las Cruces, New Mexico with the Organ Mountains in the background. Taken 11 April 2023 at 7:25 PM with sunset at 7:34 PM. Cropped section from a 7 image pano shot at 116mm.
While this looks a like it was taken with moonlight, it's actually a bit of sliding trickery with B&W processing, darkening the shadows and blacking out the sky. In reality, it was taken at just about sunset which accounts for the long shadows and vehicle lights.
The city ranges from approximately 3 to 9 miles away from where I'm standing at the I-10 Rest Stop and then runs to the Organ Mountains. The peak, Organ Needle is 18.4 miles away and lies 9,018 feet above sea level.

I was on this night actually chasing a thunderstorm that was dropping some impressive lightening, but by the time I got to the best spot to capture it, the storm had died down already and effectively dead. But not to worry as the traffic was pretty heavy that night and so decided to get an LE for car trails that I hadn't done for awhile. I was stuck for a name until I saw the graffiti on the back of the road sign.
I hope everyone had a great weekend and so as always, thank you! :)
Slick and icy winter road conditions

It has been foggy and off and on rainy since Friday. The local airport had to cancel almost all flights for the past three days. My son had to get back to school but his flight was canceled for two days straight. I ended up driving him to Detroit to catch the second leg of his flight; with fog like this most of the way there and back. At night you couldn't see more than the distance of three lane hash marks, even with fog lights.
Back in April, a late spring snow storm caused a flight delay in Chicago. Just before we took off, the plane had to be de-iced. The ground buildings and vehicle lights viewed through the de-icing liquid on the the plane window created interesting patterns.
I tried to put the original in the first comment box as a private photo, which I used to do, but doesn't seem to work now.
With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, stay safe, and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️
Arriving in Tok from the Alaska/Canada border on a winter afternoon, on the Alaska-Canada Highway. I thought about removing the few road sign lights and vehicle lights, but then considered this is my Main Street in Tok Alaska, this is the way it is.
A few years ago, during a tourism campaign, a sign was erected beside the road near here, indicating this IS Tok Main Street.
HFF 😊 😊 😍

Like the vehicle lights at night slow shutter speed to get light painting(?) effect. No editing as shot.
Noticed some first responder lights shining outside my apartment window, and I do have a weakness for colored lights out of focus.
This was about 9:30 am in the morning. The sun was coming up but was still behind the Chugach Mountains, but it was lighting up the clouds with this beautiful red color. I was driving over to the Kenai but when I saw this I had to stop at Potter Marsh and capture this beautiful sky. You can see some vehicle lights on the Seward Highway which heads South out of Anchorage on the East side of the Turnagain Arm. We're down to about six hours of daylight now but that will start turning around again with Winter Solstice occuring the 21st of December.
Taken 5 December 2019 at Potter Marsh, Alaska.
Vehicle lights pass the Devil's Cornfield on California Highway 190 in Death Valley. Nearly 7,000 foot Tucki Mountain looms above. The Devil's Cornfield is less that 100 feet above sea level. Wilbur is also shooting the highway lights near the center of the image.
A army style vehicle, decorated in Christmas lights, drives along Sheridan Avenue during the annual Christmas Parade in downtown Cody, Wyoming. This is hat you use when a side-by-side isn’t big enough.
Vehicle lights at night at Joshua Tree National Park pass by Joshua Trees.
Happy Tree-mendous Tuesday!
Amazing how little traffic there is to photograph at 2 am. I was waiting around for just the right amount of vehicle lights for quite a long time. On the way home it dawned on me (literally) I could have easily collaged several shots by the warmth of my PC!!
Grrrr & Brrrr !!
Four exposures stitched together.
With several well-lit businesses, seasonal decorations and some moving vehicle lights,
Morro Bay, California
I like the symmetry of this perpective.
The center curb was fairly wide but the traffic was still a bit unnerving as I was buffeted by the wind currents from the passing vehicles.
Friday had a number of activities to honor the life and legacy of Prince. In addition to the events, the Interstate 35 W and the Lowry Avenue bridges were lit in purple light.
Unfortunately we found that the north side of the Lowry bridge had a segment of green light in the middle of the arc. This side did not suffer the same issue, so one can see a mix of green and purple diagonal supports.
I did capture another version that I would have liked to post that had a long shutter. It had some nice light trails from the vehicle lights but for some reason the street lights were not as clear. Perhaps I will try again on another day.

this is one of the busiest bridges connecting pudong to puxi. the nanpu bridge is one of the 3 bridges spanning across the huangpu river. as the night falls, the street lights and vehicle lights turned on... a vibrant scene awakes to the flow of lights
