Clematis - 'Sodertalje'. For some reason this particular variety can change it's colour tones quite considerably over a season, from pinkish magenta to full bluish purple.

Amaryllis 'Bingo' is a variety developed in Brazil.

It is a plant with conical flowers, large, beautiful and red in color.

Its foliage is also quite ornamental.

There are over 40 different varieties of mustard plants, but three are the most popular for culinary use; black, brown, and white mustard seeds typically go into recipes and making mustard. All three varieties are found in the U.S. as well as other parts of the world.

Mustard is the second most-used spice in the United States, as its usage is only exceeded by the peppercorn. And it's no wonder since mustard works well with all types of meats, pork, poultry, and seafood. You may be used to standard yellow prepared mustard, but there are other wonderful varieties of seeds and prepared mustards to experiment with.

Grevillea Moonlight is a gorgeous hybrid variety that has stunning large cream-coloured flowers that are filled with nectar for birds, bees and butterflies. It is a hardy plant that will grow in most parts of the country and flowers for most of the year.

Back to the Garden of the Museum of the Republic, another species found is the domestic goose ((Anser cygnoides domesticus / Anser anser). This type of goose is part of a family of birds that includes ducks and swans.

There are more than 40 varieties of geese. Wild geese inhabit temperate regions, migrating to warmer locations during the winter.

Geese were domesticated in Ancient Egypt for meat production and feathers for making arrows.

In general, domestic geese are more active at night, and due to their territorial sense they can play guard dog functions, as mentioned about Signaler Geese. The captive bird can live up to 50 years.

Something interesting I noticed about the geese and ducks that live in the garden of the Museu da República is that everyone takes care of and protects the goose or duck chiks. So, no matter who are the parents they taking care of everyone.

Thank you for looking. Isn't God a great artist?

I have always loved these yellow rosellas, which are actually a variety of the crimson rosella. Very common in areas along the Murray River, this one was a regular visitor to a tree in front of our cabin in Mildura in Victoria.

The Giardini Botanici Villa Taranto (16 hectares) are botanical gardens located on the western shore of Lake Maggiore in Pallanza, Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, Italy.

The gardens were established 1931-1940 by Scotsman Neil McEacharn who bought an existing villa and its neighboring estates, cut down more than 2000 trees, and undertook substantial changes to the landscape

Today the gardens contain nearly 20,000 plant varieties, representing more than 3,000 species, set among 7 km of paths. Among its collections are azalea, cornus, greenhouses of Victoria amazonica, and 300 types of dahlias. It also contains a small herbarium and the founder's mausoleum.

Marsh wren (Cistothorus palustris)

A sputtering, bubbling song among the cattails is a giveaway that the Marsh Wren is at home.

Some birders have tagged the Marsh Wren the "Heinz 57 variety" bird, because scientists have recorded 57 different variations of its song, one of the biggest repertoires in the bird-world!

And nightfall doesn't faze these birds. A male may sing straight through the night.

Marsh Wrens usually forage out of view, hopping up only for brief moments.

Industrious male Marsh Wrens build "dummy nests" in their nesting territories, occasionally up to twenty or more; most of these are never used for raising young, but the adults may sleep in them during other seasons.

This Variety/ Convenience store is still a Variety/ Convenience store. On major Toronto arterial roads (College, Queen or Dundas Street) some of these were converted to a restaurant and left untouched on the outside. The street retains this way some of the character. Kind of reverse Potemkin effect. The mural on the side is reflecting the Portuguese community, which moved into this neighborhood in 1950's

Sometimes the sea looks grey or with an assortment of blues and adding a touch of white foam or sea diamonds. Pastels, reflections ripples, patterns and the intensity of the sun add to the variety of sea artwork to be appreciated.

I find these Variety/ Convenience stores interesting to photograph. I am not in habit to shop there and I am surprised how many survive in the city. This one is on Bathurst Street, close to Central Tech, but the school closures must make a dent in the earnings. (Jun 13, 2021, P1490257, Upl Jun 19, 2021)

EXPLORE ( Place 273 )

It is the first year we have this variety of daffodils in the garden. As you may have seen in photos I posted earlier on, they are not all identical.

La renoncule flammette (Ranunculus flammula), la petite douve ou la petite flamme, est une espèce de plante herbacée de la famille des Renonculacées qui pousse dans les milieux humides.

Ranunculus flammula, the lesser spearwort, greater creeping spearwort or banewort, is a species of perennial herbaceous plants in the genus Ranunculus (buttercup), growing in damp places throughout the Boreal Kingdom. It flowers June/July. Ranunculus flammula is poisonous. It is very closely related to R. reptans, which is distinguished by prostrate and more slender stems, narrower leaves and smaller flowers and is sometimes included within R. flammula sensu lato as a variety (R. flammula var. reptans (L.) E. Meyer).

In addition to other forms of pollination, this plant is adapted to rain-pollination.

Close-up details of the middle of a Clematis flower, the fast-growing 'Montana' variety.

I found this Fritillaria meleagris, commonly called snake's head fritillary or chess flower, in a park last Sunday. Although usually my favourites are the purple ones I liked the colouring of this variety too and the way the two flower heads emerge from one stem.

CSX M434 comes off the Iona Island causeway with CSX SD40-2 #8040 leading CN and CSX gevos. Contrary to normal circumstances, the River Sub has had a host of 40-2 leaders, mostly on the 433 and 434.

A wide variety of native ukeles.

I ambled through the Himalayan Glen and High Walk, through China and past a temple and watchtower and suddenly was in a darker place....way weird....magic land....imagining orcs and goblins in the shadows....it was spooky even in the afternoon where the sides of the path reached in to trap you between spikey, pointed walls made out of tree stumps heaped on top of each other. Yes, this is the Stumpery in Biddulph Grange Gardens, one of the few bits I found genuinely interesting. I should have been interested in the vast variety of plants and trees, and might have learnt to identify and name more than the handful I do, but my mind was elsewhere. I should have been in North Wales, not just five minutes down the road.

Persian Buttercup (Ranunculus asiaticus)

I bought these beauties, they looked like 'Antiques'? A special variety.

Amazing how they can light up a room... such a vibrant and beautiful blooms.

With love to you and thank you for ALL your faves and comments, M, (* _ *)

The joint Union Pacific and Utah Railway yard was packed with interesting equipment the morning of Aug. 27, 1978. Parked along the turntable pit are GP7 No. 120, GP30 No. 873, and GP9 No. 312. TR5 “Cow & Calf” No. 1875/1875B are spotted on the roundhouse lead while Utah Railway wood caboose No. 60 is parked out of service on a side track.

The autumnal vine leaves have a great variety of colours, different shades of red, orange, yellow and green. My favourites are usually the red ones but the yellow leaves also look spectacular when they are glowing in the sunlight.

Clematis alpina, the Alpine clematis, is a flowering deciduous vine of the genus Clematis. Like many members of that genus, it is prized by gardeners for its showy flowers. It bears 1 to 3-inch spring flowers on long stalks in a wide variety of colors.

Gardens of Great Britain

This is a series of photographs taken in the many gardens we have visited over a long period time. It never ceases to amaze how many gardens there are and the variety of planting they show, long may it continue.

Today’s contribution comes from RHS Rosemoor, Torrington, EX38 8PH, North Devon. Truly a terrific garden to visit.
