Although today it rained wonderfully in Córdoba, I have chosen an archive photo. This way I don't get wet and I see that it is useful to save . I think it's a nice photo of The Shining City, the authentic title of these ruins so well reconstructed and valued and protected by UNESCO.

Rain of tender orange blossoms
that the wind in the patio drags
like guzla sobs
on the ground shelled
for thirst that springs flow 5
behind the white lattices
of faded loves
that gold dresses the sunset.
The whisper of the flowers
about silent songs 10
evokes pale notes
crystal of dead lutes
they are sighs of Azahara
that are falling in the patio
with its snow petals 15
fused on land and water.

The picture represents the feelings and point of view of the intelligence behind the camera. This disease of our age is boredom and a good photographer must combat it. The way to do this is by invention – by surprise. When I say a good picture has surprise value I mean that it stimulates my thinking and intrigues me. The best way to achieve surprise quality is by avoiding clichés. Imitation is the greatest danger of the young photographer.

Jvari Monastery is one of the most iconic in Georgia. This ancient temple dates back to the 6th century AD. It was built at the dawn of the adoption and spread of Christianity in Georgia. The name of the church is translated from Georgian as “the cross” and has its own history. According to the legend, the cross of St. Nino, one of the most revered saints who converted Georgia to Christianity, is kept here. After some time, a temple was built on the site of the holy cross, which later became the basis of the present Jvari.
The Jvari temple is located nearby the ancient capital of Georgia, Mtskheta, on the top of a high mountain, from where picturesque views of the neighborhood open, at the intersection of stormy waters of the Aragvi and Kura rivers. The temple attracts thousands of tourists because of its architecture, location and historical value. Exterior and interior decorations of the temple are made in simple, and we can say quite austere forms. Unlike most Orthodox churches, Jvari is beautiful with its simplicity, rigor and clarity of lines. According to the structure, the temple is classified as serial, or tetraconch. Inside the temple right in the center under the dome on a stone pedestal, stands the impressive wooden cross, decorated with inscriptions and carvings. The exterior facades of the temple are decorated with simple, and at the same time expressive bas-reliefs.
To the top of the mountain where the temple stands, lead two ways: a new asphalt road for cars, and a path through which people used to climb up to the sanctuary from time immemorial. The trail begins at the highway. Climbing up along it until about the middle, you can come across a spring with holy water which is believed to appear thanks to the prayers of St. Nino. This water is considered to be curative and miraculous. The temple of Jvari went through a long and difficult journey of one and a half thousand year’s length along with the Georgian people, experienced hardships and difficulties, becoming a symbol of faith for Georgia.
The dahlia originates from the high plateaus of Mexico, where it originally grew as a wildflower. Indigenous peoples, including the Aztecs, cultivated these flowers not only for their aesthetic value but also used their long, hollow stems as water conduits. The botanical name, pinnata, honors Anders Dahl, an 18th-century Swedish botanist and student of Carl Linnaeus.
Machu Picchu 20221127
Located in the heart of the Peruvian Andes, the sacred Inca citadel built around 1450 and discovered in 1911, still hides enigmas and mysteries about its real purpose, which continue to be hidden to this day and which arouse the interest of both visitors and archaeologists from all over the world.
Due to its strategic location at the top of a high mountain, there are various theories about what it could mean for the Incas. Some argue that it was built as a great mausoleum for the Inca Pachacútec, while others claim that it was an important administrative and agricultural center whose cultivation areas served for the livelihood of its inhabitants. However, it is also considered that it was used as a necessary link between the Andes and the Peruvian Amazon or as a resting residence for the Inca governor.
The truth is that Machu Picchu is one of the greatest symbols behind what was the impressive architecture and engineering of the Inca Empire. Although its origin is still the subject of study, the value and significance it represented in its time, as well as its imposing design, have earned it to be considered one of the seven wonders of the modern world.

The fire lily bears large, bright orange-red flowers that create a firework display in the garden. Therefore, it's not surprising that it is a highly sought-after garden plant.
But this well-known lily is unfortunately rarely offered because propagation is relatively time-consuming. The brood buds that form in the leaf axils only develop into flowering bulbs after several years.
Ha, and I have it in my garden! 😀
The fire lily grows wild in the foothills of the Alps and from South Tyrol to the Pyrenees.
Lilium bulbiferum is classified as endangered on the German Red List. It is therefore of particular ecological value.
Feuerlilie (Lilium bulbiferum)

A large field of round bales of cornstalks which will be used for feed or bedding over the long winter to come. These have become increasingly popular in our area as an occasional alternative to hay. They have less nutrional value to hay,but if you are a little short on hay, they will work.We baby our cows, only the finest hay for them! People just decide that their boat isn't worth it anymore, they dump it or maybe it breaks down. According to CJ a local boat captain it costs they county about 15k to remove these boats and they only have a budget each year of 85K. So, when these owners determine enough is enough for them, they remove the VIN numbers and anything of value and let the rest of us pick up the mess. I really dislike people like that. Best part.... If you look at the name of the boat close up... Integrity.
Kojori Fortress was built atop Azeuli Mountain, at a height of 1,250 metres above sea level. According to historians, the fortress was constructed sometime during the 11th century. Built in multiple layers atop the cliffs, this fortress once protected the caravan road connecting Tbilisi to Armenia, and was of immense strategic importance during the Middle Ages.
Korjoli Fortress was built of crushed stone and brick, and was plastered with thick mortar. Today, only the ruins of the walls and two of its towers remain, but these ruins speak to numerous battles and sieges over the centuries. The ruins afford visitors a beautiful view of Kartli’s wide-open spaces.
The last battle to take place at Kojori Fortress took place in 1921, when the 11th Army of the Russian Red Army faced Georgian cadets. A memorial in honour of these fallen cadets stands there today.
In addition to its historical value, Kojori is also a spectacular place for relaxing in nature, having a picnic, and doing a little light hiking in the nearby forest. This region, once the summer residence of kings, is today open to the public to enjoy.
Exterior wood window shutters over the course of history were not only aesthetically pleasing but provided a necessary function with their many uses.
They were used for security, provided privacy from outsiders passing by, added an extra layer of insulation during winter weather (with wood having a high R value) and blocked out the sun, preventing damage to furniture.
Louvered shutters allowed a breeze to enter a home, keeping the room cool on a hot summer day.
Earlier historic shutters were used for security in place of glass windows.
Shutters were either single board, or board-and-batten shutters (vertical wood slats) which were used on cottages and primitive buildings.
Solid raised paneled shutters then appeared and provided a lighter, more elegant look.
Fixed louvered shutters then came into use during the second half of the 18th century.
Historically, solid raised panel shutters were referred to as “shutters” while those with louvered shutters were called “blinds”.

This was my father’s old work phone way back in the 1970’s. They were upgrading I presume as they were throwing it our, but my father a wise old owl could see the potential back then even that this had the potential to be of value. For years it was a toy for me as I grew up. These days it sits on a table in the hallway, a reminder of my dad. One day maybe I’ll get it fixed so that it works again, but for now it’s a great memory of a fabulous guy.

Onobrychis viciifolia - Sainfoin
Sainfoin is a plant most at home on dry, free-draining chalk and limestone soils. In Britain it grows wild on chalk grassland in southern England such as Salisbury Plain where it may be native. In other places it is considered a relic of past cultivation. It has been grown since the 17th century on chalklands as a high value specialist fodder crop, for example for horses. Its use in agriculture declined by the 1950's, but there has been a resurgence in interest in it as a crop in recenty
In the Japanese Garden on the Clingendael estate you will even find a tea pavilion.
This is the most eye-catching and is a popular place to admire the garden from there. In the tea pavilion you will find an indication of the age of the garden. The date "9-7-1913" is applied in the ridge of the pavilion. The Japanese Garden is the oldest of its kind in the Netherlands and has a high historical value.
Macro Mondays-
We all went a little crazy during the Pandemic. I got sucked in to a start-up electric car company from a targeted Instagram ad (actually why I left Instagram). Put a large deposit down and all of the early adopters got numbered L.E. vehicle assignments (1-5000) and two L.E. keychains. Well of course the company went bust; though not before I had dumped my stock holdings and cancelled my order! The Fisker Ocean One L.E. sold for around $73,000. After the bankruptcy, they were selling for at best $22,000! Somewhere around 3000 people got stuck with cars of little resale value and incomplete software, windows that wouldn't open, brakes that didn't always engage, and keys that didn't work. Thankfully I dodged the bullet and my keychain is empty😂

For those wondering about this photo, this is from 2018, up Indian Creek Road in the Wood River Valley in Idaho. I can't afford to live there but I'm thankful for the opportunity to capture a lot of photos. There is a special place in my heart for high elevations. And the WRV is one of them.

Apparently also known as Kangaroo House, this lovely old heritage residence at 27 Enoggera Terrace, Red Hill in Brisbane seems to have been converted into multiple flats. Nicely kept though and right across the road from the Red Hill Cinemas.
This note from the Brisbane City Council's heritage website
"This late Victorian residence was built circa 1891 for John Storie the younger, owner of Storie Steam Joinery on nearby Windsor Road. Its architectural features reveal evidence of the owner’s chosen trade, and reflect the heritage of Red Hill’s early industry. It remains as a significant example of early development along Enoggera Terrace and is important for its strong aesthetic value."

I strayed a bit from my normal processing on this one, tried to make a bit more processed and upped the definition, and tried to give it a bit of a vintage look.
As always, I truly value your comments/criticisms/critiques/suggestions!
Thanks for visiting my friends!
This has since changed owner but still on the road. 240 values would suggest all but the very worst are doomed now!

What is it that causes us to cherish material items like we do? Why do we value gold, silver, jewels? They don't provide nourishment or quench our thirst or provide shelter or comfort. Is it because they represent wealth and are scarce so only those with enough money can own them?

Sempervivum (/sɛmpəˈvaɪvəm/) is a genus of about 40 species of flowering plants in the family Crassulaceae, commonly known as houseleeks. Other common names include liveforever (the source of the taxonomical designation Sempervivum, literally "always/forever alive") and hen and chicks, a name shared with plants of other genera as well. They are succulent perennials forming mats composed of tufted leaves in rosettes. In favourable conditions they spread rapidly via offsets, and several species are valued in cultivation as groundcover for dry, sunny locations.
These are just a few of the Sempervivums I have dotted about in the garden/greenhouse . They are a very hardy plant tolerant of a wide range of temperatures so make a good plant to have around .

The station at Exeter Central has long held a fascination ever since I bought the Peco booklet "Track Plans" by CJ Freezer published in the 1960s, price 2s 6d.
The station layout was featured* and, in addition to the two centre roads, there was also a scissor crossover between at least one of the platforms to the adjacent through line. Of course, for a young lad from the East Midlands, anything that was Southern Region was highly exotic - especially when it was so far west and not part of the 3rd rail electrification scheme.
On the few days I spent down in Devon recently I decided to pay another visit, only this time with the camera. For a variety of reasons I could only manage a trip in the dark although in some ways that enhanced the mystique of the place which, for me, has never really gone away. Sadly the Peco publication has long gone from my bookshelf, offloaded at a time when I couldn't foresee the potential nostalgic value it might now have - well, let's face it, most folk in their 20s never imagine they're going to reach their 60s at some point.
For this shot, I did snap the train on the left much earlier as it was pulling in to the platform, but somehow this more distant offering appeals more. For anyone who hasn't yet fallen asleep it features Pacer 143611 at left and nearest the camera working the 9.11pm Exmouth - Exeter St Davids (2E56) and, on the right, Sprinter 150265 nearest the camera, which has just arrived with the 8.24pm from Barnstaple (2R98).
