Statues of guardian lions have traditionally stood in front of Chinese Imperial palaces, Imperial tombs, government offices, temples, the homes of government officials, the wealthy and Tiananmen Square. They were believed to have powerful mythic protective benefits.
I was in Beijing for the first time since 2005. My collections of the memories were in films and a mere 2.1 mega pixel, and finally I could re-collect them in high-resolution digital formats on this trip.
Flickr was blocked in China. Although I was able to set up and view pictures using VPN connection, but I decided to hold back for uploading and commenting until I got home because the speed was just too slow to deal with.

Vietnam will showcase its five-yearly day of democracy on Sunday - May 22nd with an election for a parliament tightly controlled by a Communist Party.
The government has always denied blocking lots of websites that they consider them dangerous, and for at least a year Facebook hasn't been easily accessible in Vietnam without VPN or other measures. Meanwhile some of the activists for Human Rights were also captured and beaten by the police force.

One from archives! Stagecoach East Kent 16264 P264 VPN has just squeezed itself through Westgate Tower, Canterbury whilst working route 5. Thursday 29th April 2010.
Buses are now sadly banned through the Westgate Tower and are now rerouted around the town to reach the Bus Station.

Withdrawn from service and having undergone a element of component recovery, Stagecoach East Kent 16264 P264 VPN awaits disposal at the rear of Herne Bay Garage. Sunday 11th August 2013.
16264 was withdrawn from service at the end of March 2013 and sold to CB Commercials in October of the same year. and collected on the 25th November.

This aircraft was delivered to GECAS and leased to Garuda Indonesia Airlines as EI-CDI in Dec-91. It was returned to the lessor in Dec-96 and immediately leased to VARIG Brasil as PP-VPN. It was returned to the lessor in Oct-03 and stored at Goodyear, AZ, USA. The aircraft was re-registered N499HE in Jun-04 and was sold to FedEx Federal Express in Sep-04. It remained stored at Goodyear until Jul-05 when it ferried to the far east for freighter conversion with a main deck cargo door. The aircraft was re-registered N.5.7.4.F.E. in Aug-05 and the conversion was completed in Oct-05. Current (Mar-18).
