The pleasant little Paro airport was uncluttered and not crowded at all and was actually looking like an art gallery! I saw a notice elsewhere in the airport that some of these paintings are for sale. Still, the art gallery- like ambience in the airport was very relaxing. I must admit that I had a lump in my throat when I entered the departure area of the pleasant little Paro airport in Bhutan. The country is very beautiful, the people even more so, and even the lady at immigration had been so friendly! I will return, that's for sure. This is the pleasant departure lounge in the charming Paro airport terminal building! Attitudes towards photograph were also fairly relaxed in Paro. Landing into Paro is another matter altogether and is very stressful for the pilots, as the descent into Paro is always executed manually. All flights into Paro are limited to having sufficient visibility of other aircraft and the surrounding terrain due to which flights into and out of Paro are restricted to daylight hours only. Also, due to the difficult landing conditions, only a handful of pilots are trained to land here, and only two airlines serve Paro- the Bhutanese national carried Druk Air and a private airline Bhutan Airlines.
